ok i want to get one and am not really sure which to get, i hate carring around my big cd player and cd case, instead i want to know what is a really good deal? mp3 player seems like my best bet, but with a buggit at only 150.00 which is a good one? those ipods look hidiously exspencive and i dont need 10gigs of storeg, only maybe, 6 hours worth, at most cd's i would put on it would be

    meteora [36 minutes]
    hybrid theary [34 minutes]
    payable on death [45 munites]
satalite [56, i am not really sure]
    intermission [at least an hour]
mix cd i made [46 minutes]
    creed mix [46 minutes]
    fire proof [40 minutes]
    another mix cd [30 minutes]

thats roufly 7 to 7 1/2 hours, so whats a good player, mp3 most likely that can store that much, and has a price of around 150, with continuous play, i would hate to have to listen to papercut, and then go back to the menu and click on one step closer, i would want it to just play through the whole cd. EDIT!!! i realized my mistake in typing up there can a mod please fixc it, it looks sick, lol

I'm pretty sure you'll never fit 7 hours on an mp3 player. I've had a few of 64 mb ones and they only old an average of 15 rock songs. You can buy a memory card but I don't think they sell ones with enough memory to hold that many songs.

Try either a mini disc player or an iPod. With a mini disc player you'll just have a bunch of little CD's.

My friend had a nice MP3 player that held a gig, and it was barely bigger than the normal MP3 players. And it only cost him about $15. He never said where he got it, though.

Er, whoops. Sorry. The price of the normal MP3 player (that holds 64MB or whatever) was $15 less than what my friend paid. So he paid $15 MORE for his MP3 player. Your best bet is to just comparison shop or go to an electronics store and ask the guys there to help.

I have a Samsung Yepp 64 megs and it holds like 45 songs.

I convert my MP3 songs to WMA to make the size smaller.

I suggest you get an MP3 player.

Hard Drive Mp3 Players are out there, ya kno.

Anyways. Mp3 PLayers are best, they're small, convient, and you'll look cool in front all of those CD player losers! (no offence). I have a 128mb iRiver. Its pretty cool. I had it since December of last year, its cracked tho from dropping it too much. Im getting a new one, its a 1.5GB and thats perfect for my collection. Here is alink. I dont like Ipods. They are waaay too popular and i dont like popular. But if you have a large CD collection, you should go for an IPOD.

Get a MD player :D . In my opinion, it's much better than a MP3 one.

You'll need a hard drive MP3 player, a memory card one won't cut it. On average, one minute of MP3 music takes up one megabyte of storage, of course this could be higher or lower depending on the bitrate. But let's say 1 minute/megabyte. You have 2 types of MP3 players, memory (flash card) storage, or hard drive storage. The biggest flash card ones out there hold 256MB, or around 256 minutes of music, not enough for your CD collection. Or, you can save up some more money and get a hard drive player (I have an iPod and love it) that will hold thousands of songs.

Whatever you do, don't go for a minidisc player. They're crap. If you don't compress the audio, one minidisc will hold no more music than a CD, defeating the purpose. If you compress the files, you'll lose sound quality (and you will notice it) and be able to hold around 300 minutes of music. But, the quality loss is so great, it's not worth the extra storage.

Something you may want to consider is a portable MP3/CD player. You can burn MP3s to CDs as data (not audio CD, but actual MP3 files) and play those. And CDs hold 700MB, or around 700 minutes of music, more than enough for that small CD collection you posted. The disadvantage? They're not as small as a MD/MP3 player if size is important to you. But they're the cheapest of all 3 options with many good MP3/CD players under 100 bucks. Plus, it will still play any audio CDs you have that aren't burned to your MP3 CD. My car's stereo is an MP3/CD player, and I love it, I can fit about 10-12 albums on one disc and that avoids the need to change CDs while driving. The same if you're walking, running, working out, or whatever.

I have a 64mb Creative MuVo. Great buy, i'd recommend it to anyone.
Just try getting the 128mb, or, if you want something bigger, the iRiver ones are really cool, check them out.

    Get a minidisc player.
Minidiscs are cheap (around 5$), when you want more storage, flash memory for MP3 players are expensive as hell. I don't even see why someone would want an MP3 player over a Minidisc player. I can't wait until Christmas, there's a Minidisc player in the back of my parents' closet

I was looking into the big 1gig ones, and all those seem to be chargeable, and not use battery life, and they die within like 10 hours, and then you have to charge me up, I would hate to have to do that, so I think I might just buy a 512 megs at best buy, forget the name though, that holds like 8 and a half hours!!! Plenty for me and it goes on one battery!
