With 2007 winding down, it was inevitable for the year-end recaps and top ten lists to come out in full force.

Firstly, Billboard came out with their year-end awards, and Linkin Park placed on the following charts:

    Top 200 Artists
    Linkin Park - #9
    Top 200 Albums
    Minutes To Midnight - #10
    Hot 100 Artists
    Linkin Park - #34
    Hot 100 Songs
    "What I've Done" - #38
    Hot Digital Artists
    Linkin Park - #23
    Hot Digital Songs
    "What I've Done" - #38
    Modern Rock Artists
    Linkin Park - #1
    Modern Rock Songs
    "What I've Done" - #1
    "Bleed It Out" - #13
    Mainstream Rock Artists
    Linkin Park - #3
    Mainstream Rock Songs
    "What I've Done" - #5
    "Bleed It Out" - #15

Please note that these charts are based on unit sales and radio airplay, and are not reflections of the opinions of Billboard editors.

Lastly, KROQ released their Top 100 Songs of 2007 list and Linkin Park songs placed four times:

    "Given Up" - #57
"Shadow of the Day" - #27
    "Bleed It Out" - #8
    "What I've Done" - #2

The Foo Fighters' "The Pretender" placed at #1.

    Thanks to Bryan and ragingxchaoz!

Awesome spots there! Really nice seeing them at #1 of Modern Rock too...But i cant stop thinking since day one that the "Pretender" is way too overrated.

How was given up on kroq's list?? It wasn't a single right?

What I've Done was just a monster of a single. I heard that song play every where I went like restaurants and stores. I wouldn't be surprised if it were awarded some type of single of the year award.

I think it's on there just because it got a lot of radio play :/ you're right though, it's not a single, so it's a bit unusual.

Mike's rapidfire lyrics, Chester's catchy chorus, with the nice simple riff that Brad plays. Plus it's the only song that really features the rap/rock formula that brought them success in the past from their last two studio albums.

Still doesn't mean it's a good song. I can't see why LP has been doing so well last year. They used to be my favourite band hands down, but all the hype for MtM and then the massive let down that it was swayed me to change my mind. BIO was an alright song, but there's no hook, no pleasing turnover and its just too plain.

People have different taste of music, right? Bleed It Out is just plain out fun and catchy. And actually most of the band's songs are formulated to be radio-friendly (despite the heavy sounds and whatnot, its not considered to be heavy metal) since Hybrid Theory, contributing to their success.

You didn't ask why it was good. You asked why it was popular, and those two things don't always go hand in hand. Crank Dat was not a good song by any means, but it sure as hell was catchy and caught fire across the nation. Now, BIO's case is different, because I actually like it (though I would've made the drums a bit more complex, it could've really added to the party feel) and apparently so did a lot of other people...hence popularity.

MtM was initially a big disappointment for me too, but I don't really view this as a Linkin Park album. It really helps in appreciating the music more. If you don't go in expecting the sounds of the past, you discover that some of the songs are really great (While some others are still good, not nothing special, too poppy). The Little Things Give You Away is a BEAUTIFUL piece of work if you just sit back close your eyes and calmly listen to it. I think Linkin Park is going to use MtM as a springboard to deliver something new, and hopefully more unique on the next studio album and catch us all by storm the way Hybrid Theory did. Those are my hopes, anyway.

I agree, MtM is not an LP album :p
