Well, I've finally written another one...hope it's up to par. Type... I cleared the dust off the old machine, And my finger lovingly caress’d It traced each key in amorous recollection Over the ancient platen, it laid to rest. Faded back were the reminiscences, Of many a day, spent lost in a realm Ethereal yet concrete in its ceaseless mystic dimensions, In it’s passion, a resonant calm... Once more I sat on the ancient chair, In it’s agony, there resounded a creak, Tremulous were the fingers that once again touch’d, And anxious the ears that heard the key speak In that one stroke all was forgotten, A small tear swabb’d the rust, One follow’d the other, till the yellowing sheet emerg’d, Encompassing, enlivening the love astray, vanish’d lust... A small smile graced my lips, Eyes once again laid rest, On the yellowing paper snatch’d from the platen in tender ease Then crumpled, then straightn’d, lovingly caress’d Head drew back, eyes closed, delved deep within memories A small teasing gust made the corners ripple, Then, as though in mellow severance, it seized it from my clasp And in amorous recollection, I let it slip.
