Okay after searching extensively for a cable internet or phone service provider that goes out to where we live and finding nothing. Not cox, nor verizon, nor anything else. In fact the only options are embark, which they ripped my parents off so no deal for them and Ntelos Broadband Mobile Modem. On the box it says it supports linux but when I plug it in it does nothing but say it's a usb stick and that's because it has 64mb of internal memory and a sd slot for you to add more.

Does anyone know how to get a broadband modem on linux to work? it's Novatel Ovation MC727

    here is the specs http://www.nvtl.com/pdf/Ovation_MC727_Datasheet.pdf
