I like the sound of it. Pretty much dislike everything else. I wouldn't mind the repetitiveness but I just dont dig the delivery or the lyrics.
holy crap how'd i miss this 'til just now?! edit: holy shit this is a halloween beat edit2: reflecting on this more, this totally feels like a good example of how a Mike-lead Linkin Park would sound like. Also, the "Everything will be just fine" bit at the bridge has a melody that sounds super familiar to me. I feel like I've hard it on something before but I can't place my finger on it and it's screwing with me something fierce. edit3: had time to reflect on edit2, think it's a reference to this:
Not a fan of this song on initial listen. The vocals are decent but the lyrics are basic and the beat just isn’t good at all to me. I know I shouldn’t expect it ever again but I miss the Fort Minor sound, that’s still in my top 25 rap albums of time to date. Maybe it will grow on me with more listens but the hard part is that some songs can do repitiveness well and in this song it’s just annoying.
The song is definitely growing on me and some of the things I really love is the delivery of the 'everything is gonna be fine', and the doubled vocals in the 2nd verse. I also love the beat and think it's one of the hardest hitting and crunchiest beats Mike's made in a while. It thumps, and I can imagine on the right sound system it would probably be incredible. I actually agree with people that this is what a Mike-led Linkin Park would sound like, because I wouldn't consider this sound and beat out of place on an LP album. But it just feels like it's missing something that elevates it from 'good' to 'excellent'. It does get better for me with each listen though.
For me it's definitely the best thing Mike's done in years, I would totally invite an LP album 50% in this style and 50% like MTM..
Dang, I love how gritty this is. That second verse is so great, those layered vocals work so well together over that beat. This reminds of his work for The Raid's soundtrack. While this isnt the most amazing thing he's done, I'll gladly take it ad we wait for another project from him/Linkin Park.
The second verse and how it leads up to the chorus is definitely my favorite bit of the song. Just works incredibly well over the beat and atmosphere of the song. Think the weakest bit of the song was the first verse. It was too passive in music when compared to everything after it.
Well that was pretty good! It's grittier and dirtier than most of the stuff on PT. Not sure if I like it more than PT though. I agree. This could just as well be a new LP song with Mike on lead. I wasn't sure at first, but now I think this could actually work. I'd be totally fine (no pun intended) with that tbh.
The idea of him fronting LP isn’t something I am totally into. He is a great songwriter and producer. Not sure about his charisma or that his voice and presence is enough to carry the band. There’s a reason why Chester was so good at what he did.
Ever since I saw the way he carried the three hour tribute show on his shoulders, I totally believe he can carry LP shows. The only thing is they shouldn't play for festivals and those kinds and solely stick to album tour shows. Mike carrying LP shows works if the crowd consists of LP fans.
I like the voice of Mike in this song, but the sounds from chorus is very annoying, but this is a my opinion because I don't like electronic music so much. I hope Brad and Rob will come with strong sounds inside these kind of songs. Everything's gonna be fine….
