Not to sound demeaning, but I truly feel this is a personal preference more than a fact. More or less every artist in the world could make a collaboration with LP, and at least one person will dig it. Only Mike (and whoever are involved) can decide what is fitting for the album and what's not (regarding the general sound).
I hope it's someone other than Einziger if the guest is a guitarist. Einziger's live solos at LP shows didn't sound so great, so he would have to really work on one to make it sound good on tape
While this is interesting news, I'm not too excited, at least not yet. If anything, I'm cautiously optimistic, as I do not want to have any false expectations. Rakim featuring in GATS was a pleasant surprise, especially since I had never heard of him prior to the song. Keep in mind that I have only listened to a little hip-hop (Fort Minor mostly) so I'm not that familiar with even the bigger names in the genre/industry, with the exception of Eminem. This is probably a pipe dream but I would probably implode from sheer excitement if Till Lindemann from Rammstein was a guest vocalist. That man has an awesome voice to be sure. I can imagine Till belting out harsh vocals in German while Chester follows up with a powerful chorus or scream. Or maybe they would scream together or even alternate between screaming. So many possibilities yet I doubt any of this would ever come to be If anyone is interested in hearing what Till Lindemann sounds like, just go to YouTube and you can find most of Rammstein's songs there. He even sings in English from time to time, among other languages. Come to think of it, would an LP song benefit from having a different language in it? I know ATS had Jornada del Muerto but that was an interlude. I wonder if a full song could have multiple languages in it and still sound good?
Just throwing totally noncommittal "Busta Rhymes" to everybody around =P. Wasn't mentioned yet, i believe.
I just learned that after Coldplay made their collaboration with Rihanna, they said that they never want to do another collaboration. So I guess Coldplay is out of the question.
If they said that, it's likely for THEIR studio albums. I don't think they'd mind collaborating otherwise. It's not happening with LP anyway.
I wouldn't mind a collab with Little Richard or Terry Crews. Dolly Parton would bring some energy as well.
