Mike Gives Details Regarding ATS & Album Length

The tension makes you love it more, but it only works if you already love the source. Ask anyone who dedicatedly buys Apple products.. name one other company that puts their advertisements on their websites so people can view them whenever they want.

 

In regards to Mike saying that ATS will be genre-busting/people will need to invent a new genre.
I'm truely skeptical that it'll be groundbreaking like that. Going back to a point I made earlier about true originality; everything feeds of something else, everything is influenced by something that came before it. It's always been like that, but now more than ever the saying "It's all been done before" is quite true. Pretty much every kind of musical crossover you could think of has been done.

Now don't mistake that as me saying ATS can't be a great album. Something doesn't have to be groundbreaking to be great. But I'll be truely surprised if LP pull off something that hasn't been done before.

 

I agree on that. Most probably these are the statements to popularize the upcoming album.

Technological advancements tend to change the way that music is done. "It's all been done before" has been said for every decade, and yet we keep innovating. It may well be new, and we may well recognize it's influences but that doesn't make it less unique in a holistic way. Just because the wheel and the combustion engine had been around for a while didn't make the automobile any less unique.
