so what are your thoughts on metallica? i guess i like their older stuff better then the new songs on St. anger but its hard to talk about metal in the last 20 years without mentioning metallica what are your thoughts on them
'One' owns for real. And Metallica is a great band. But St. Anger? Man that was (by Metallica standards) total crap. Musically and lyric-wise. No solos (which I could easily get over), "Frantic-tic-tic-tic-tic-tic-tic-tock"?!?!?!, and Lars' SNARE!!! That metallic-sounding, too tight snare is really annoying. Anything before St. Anger rules. Especially Metallica S&M
i don't listen to a lot of Metallica but from what i hear i don't really like James' voice (except in some songs, Enter Sandman, Fade To Black, etc) but guitar wise amazing. Well except St. Anger...
explain that or you have no right to say make that comment.. well you do but its not realy fair
explain that or you have no right to say make that comment.. well you do but its not realy fair  [/b][/quote] They helped shut down Napster, and what do they do when they released St. Anger? They made a sharing program on their website. If you don't believe me, buy the CD and put it in your hardrive and click on "Metallivault". You can download songs/share with other people. They're against Napster, but now they're encouraging fans to record their concerts so they can 'always remember them'. That's such bullshit. Oh, and not to mention Metallica are going to record their own shows and bootleg them for like, $50. If they're not hypocrites, they're sure as hell greedy bastards. credit: nme.com
I like the Idea, but I hate that they're doing it. *looks at Linkin Park* Why don't you decide to do something like that for Projekt Revolution
How can a bootleg be official? Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't a bootleg a fan-made recording of a concert? I mean, I download bootlegs all the time but none of them are official. I see "official bootlegs" as live albums, and not bootlegs. I guess it's just me. Anyway, I kind of like Metallica. To be honest, I hate everything they've done after their self-titled album (the black album). Everything after that is pretty crappy. Everything before it is amazing.
@Casey: Metallica wanted to shot down Napster because millions of people download their albums. Now they can pay 10$ for a live concert. If you were a musician you will also want to smack all downloaders to the ground. Anyway.. dont quote me on this, because you'll probably diss me with some difficult word i dont understand Metallica rocks I guess im the only one who likes St. Anger And other albums of course
Well they're going to be good quality bootlegs, sold for regular ticket price. They're only bootlegs because they dont count as official releases (retail stuff). I wish they'd do video instead. A Concert is an aural and visual experience. You lose half of that when you only hear the bootleg. Maybe they think the ability to hear it to remember forever makes up for not being able see it.
That's a lie. It's the labels who don't want anything downloaded. Every musical artist wants their music downloaded and they've all spoken out about things like that. I've read articles before where there have been 20-25 quotes from people from various bands and whatnot saying that they want their music to be downloaded because they think it's ridiculous to charge $20 for a CD. Labels > Artists
not really. I mean, Metallica was a band that was made popular through mostly trading of tapes, not for money, but just trading tapes. In the early 80s when they debuted, they played live shows sure, but it was the trading of the tapes that got them heard alot more. Then they come out of nowhere, when they're not popular, and bash Napster for doing what their fans did some 10 years before. It's wrong. I wouldn't have a problem with what they did if they didn't start up their own sharing program on a section of their site, which is accessed by buying a $15, and now "bootlegging" their CD's..and selling them. But whatever, I don't want to drag this topic down more than I already have.
Metallica...are great, the guitar work on St Anger is great, rhythm wise, but theres too much of it! Lars...what the hell was he thinkin?...
I think they are in some parts and in other parts weaker than the album versions. When I got it, I listened to them back to back and I absolutely hated how clean the album version sounded. The DVD just sounds alot more real.

THATS A FACT
What were you smoking when you just said that? I saw a thing on MTV where Lars said he wanted Napster GONE.
