Lacuna Coil, eh? Like a female singer? I don't know if you'd like Chainfall or Ram-Zet, but they have female singers and I really like them. You might like Nightwish, their vocalist has very close to the best voice I've ever heard, rivaled only by the beautiful Sharon den Adel from Within Temptation. Poison the Well doesn't have a female singer but they fit the genre's mentioned above. Moonspell is another male vocalist-band that you may find appealing...
If you don't like any of those bands, I can't help ya. :p Those are my favorite from that style.

Definately Nightwish and Moonspell, but I dunno...Poison the Well? Aren't they pretty hardcore? Haven't heard any symphonic elements from the songs of theirs I heard.

If you like more progressive stuff though, check out Symphony X. Their orchestration doesn't go too overboard and the songs are very well written and arranged. Can't wait for their new album :teehee:

Spineshank doesn't incorporate orchestra but they are melodic in spots. Check out anything from "Self-Destructive Pattern".
