I'd really like to know of some more soft rock bands that are more melodic. Like Breaking Benjamin. I've got a lot of heavy metal. But softer stuff I've found harder to find. Any suggestions would be appriciated.
Are you referring to any Breaking Benjamin songs, in particular? Because all the songs on their debut are quite different, but the songs on WANA are mostly the same kind of stuff. (It's easier to give a recommendation if I know what kind of songs you're referring to.) (And melodic rock rules! )
I wasn't really refering to breaking benjamin songs in particular. Just what came to mind first. I love both breaking benjamin albums, though i think i like the second better (favourite songs are cold and firefly), but also hoobastank, though they are less melodic, but you get the idea. I don't particulary want a band that sounds like breaking benjamin, just a similar style of music.
Well, WANA is similar to post-grunge bands and a lot of grunge bands in the way it's produced, I think. So, I'd recommend bands like Burden Brothers and Toadies (Burden Brothers is the ex-lead singer of the Toadies new band) -- they're both fairly melodic (Burden Brothers moreso, I'd say). Bush may also suit you, and maybe Gavin Rossdale's new band (Bush's singer), Institute. He's fairly melodic, too. Audioslave's new album is more melodic than their first, but I'm sure you already listen to them. Other melodic bands that I can think of: Fuel, Earshot, Edgewater, Jimmy Eat World (at times), Zwan, Smashing Pumpkins, Third Eye Blind (again, at times, though I'd say most of their music is based on melody), Supercell, Oasis, Lo-Pro
I really, really, like Dredg. They're really melodic, and not very heavy at all. The Mars Volta is very good, if you're into things like Pink Floyd, but they're not insanely melodic, but one of the best bands I've ever heard. More mainstream would be bands like The Beatles and Yellowcard. That's all I can think of at the moment.
D'oh! I thought I'd mentioned them, but I didn't... damn right, Dredg rules. [/b][/quote] I'll third that, and I'm glad everyones getting into that band...they're whole catalogue is amazing and they are a more melodic band. Another amazing melodic band with a great sound is Blackfield, lead in part by Porcupine Tree mastermind Steve Wilson. With his deft ear for vocal harmonies and crisp production their self-titled debut CD is really good for times when you want to kick back.

I've been a fan of both Dredg's and Apex Theory's for a long while now, it's good at least Dredg is still getting a lot of support. Hopefully Apex will get signed again soon.
