Getting to hear TTM and One More Light live before the studio versions makes me feel like I'm waiting for a Radiohead album. When you finally hear a studio version of a familiar song is just as exciting as a brand new one.
Not watching anything besides TTM, going to see them on tuesday so I don't want to be spoiled. Talking to Myself was veeeery nice, so far my favorite one from OML, that's the kind of pop I want to see from them.
Only two songs from their best (IMO) albums: THP and ATS. That's more than crappy Living Things. I'm glad I didn't bother to get ticket for their show this summer.
Edit: While I was busy doing this @Hybrid beat me to it Verse 1: Tell me what I gotta do There's no getting through to you The lights are on but nobody's home You say I can't understand But you're not giving me a chance When you leave me where do you go? All the walls that you keep building All this time that I spent chasing All the ways that I keep losing you Chorus: The truth is You turned into someone else You keep running like the sky is falling I can whisper I can yell But I know I know I know I'm just talking to myself Ooooh Talking to myself Ooooh Talking to myself Ooooh I know I know I know I'm just talking to myself Verse 2: I admit I made mistakes But yours might cost you everything Can't you hear me calling you home? All the walls that you keep building All this time that I spent chasing All the ways that I keep losing you Chorus: The truth is You turned into someone else You keep running like the sky is falling I can whisper I can yell But I know I know I know I'm just talking to myself Ooooh Talking to myself Ooooh Talking to myself Ooooh I know I know I know I'm just talking to myself
"Tell me what I got to do There's no getting through to you The lights are on but nobody's home You say I can't understand But you're not giving me a chance When you leave me, where do you go All the walls that you keep building All this time that I spent chasing All the ways that I keep losing you The truth is you turn into someone else You keep running like the sky is falling I can whisper, I can yell But I know, yeah I know, yeah I know I'm just talking to myself talking to myself talking to myself But I know, yeah I know, yeah I know I'm just talking to myself I admit I made mistakes But yours might cost you everything Can't you hear me calling you home All the walls that you keep building All this time that I spent chasing All the ways that I keep losing you The truth is you turn into someone else You keep running like the sky is falling I can whisper, I can yell But I know, yeah I know, yeah I know I'm just talking to myself talking to myself talking to myself But I know, yeah I know, yeah I know I'm just talking to myself All the walls that you keep building All this time that I spent chasing All the ways that I keep losing you
Watching this stream, I heard "Good Goodbye" for the first time and I liked it, but I felt that its more minimalist trap-infused vibe didn't fit very well with the other songs in the set. I'm glad that they played it, just the same.
"Leave Out All the Rest" sounded so good, glad to see it played in full again let alone an extended version. "Somewhere I Belong" is a guilty pleasure of mine, but I'd easily take "Waiting for the End" anytime. But you can't expect them to play all the hits though unless they played longer shows.
Notes: > Really risky but really good setlist. Starting off with Catalyst? Putting the Castle of Glass remix after One Step Closer? Lodging Heavy in the midst of all their old songs? Wew. > Wow Chester sounds really good live here. Heavy was AMAZING. > Given Up is finally gone, but WAITING FOR THE END NOOOOOO > It's kinda expected that THP has less songs since it didn't have a hit song, but I'm not surprised they kept Wastelands. > Love the new and returning intros and outros. > In the End kicking off with the fans was a nice touch. > I love how supportive the audience was to their music. Like they were singing along to the new OML songs. I really wish more fans were like that. > Can we just say how good Heavy's quick transition to Papercut was? > I'm extremely happy Leave Out All the Rest is back. It really fits well with the rest of the OML set. > Talking to Myself sounds really good. Really looking forward to OML.
Watching some of the YouTube captures of the gig and I can't wait for Manchester now. So glad OML is getting a good run out in the sets so far, especially considering the last two cycles they've only really brought a couple of new songs into the set. The song selection seems much more varied now, think this is going to be a much more exciting tour than the Hunting Party tour really.
When I see the crowd reaction to OSC, I really hope the song never ceased to be played. Like it or not, it's a live legend.
Yeah, of all the songs that could get an energetic extended outro, LOATR was a pretty unexpected choice
