Not at all. That was the absolute minimum sentence she could've got. It's completely ridiculous how celebrities and corporate america get away with so many things in the justice system.
It's freakin' stupid...all the celebrities that we want in jail never get jail time...but watch, I'll become famous and then do something that's weak compared to the rest of them and get the death penalty!
Two demonistic antichrists down....one to go. Atkins: Gone. Stewart: Prison........Dr. Phil, youre next buddy.
I think that it was fair in being that it was a minimum sentence, it wasnt just some b/s sentence. I do believe all though that she should get a longer sentence because of the amount of money involved.
You don't understand. She was already convicted, so there was no way she couldn't gotten off without serving at least 5 monhts in prison for the crimes she committed. It was a sentencing, the judge couldn't just set her free because she had already been convicted. This was the minimum sentence with the least amount of jail time, meaning it was the closest thing to nothing possible.
I dont like it at all that celebrities always seem to get out easy... but hey i think my sheets are Martha Stewart. lol
Seriously....I don't really think of this as a big deal. Sure her actions DOES warrant some jail time, but there have been some corporate scandals that have been FAR, FAR WORSE, costing billions and go unpunished! And the current corporate propaganda and corruption/influence of the governments are much more costly than money right now.....
I don't think her crime was as serious as Ken Lay's. She did what anyone in her shoes would probably have done (I think). :wth: But anyways, if Martha Stewart's being hounded for "lying", then I think Ken Lay deserves those 100+ years in jail.

She participated in insider trading. That's a huge offense and deserves at least 3 to 4 times what she got. Ken Lay does deserve the 100+ years in prison because he's the one who lied to everyone about the downfall of the company. What Martha did was to a lesser extent, but she did ask for insider information to protect herself. Sure, that's logical, but not law-abiding.

Yah i totally agree, just because she is a celeberty doesn't mean that she should be treated any differently than anyone else. It doesn't make it fair to the other people in the corporation who wern't able to find out the info that Martha got.
very true...i hope kobe bryant serves some time as well...
The difference between Kobe and Martha is that there's evidence against Martha, but none against Kobe. I think Kobe is innocent and this nutjob is trying to just hurt his reputation.
what would happen if i, a little tiny speck on the horizon of the great united states, did what she did? i think i wouldn't be getting a tan for the next couple of years. so i agree with you guys talking about the celebrities getting off easy. next. i saw a special on the cell that she would live in if she was convicted. they said that her friends would be able to bring in catered food and comfy blankets and stuff to make her stay more bearable. this is PRISON! this is not a HOTEL ROOM! what in the hell are they thinking?
