I am not sure if this is in the right forum but if it's not, move it.

I was in my local WalMart today and I was walking around to kill some time while my brother bought some things. I walked down the aisle where school supplies usually are and I saw some Linkin Park folders, amoung others like, Good Charlotte, Britney Spears, Korn etc.

What I was wondering is when companies make folders, pens, dolls or anything really marketable, do you think they contact the bands or in fact their manager to approve to make those products?

Some of the things I see with a bands name on it just makes me wonder...

    Comments?

    Nope. They don't.

Some of the stuff you see in places like Hot Topic and Spencer's Gifts are the same way. They're not official. Well, most aren't, anyway.

The only official merchandise is sold at shows and on their online stores.

Hmm.....so, stores like Will said, they just make their own unofficial designs of artists and put them on merchandise?

Nope, it's all unofficial unless they say so.
