If you haven't heard of M83, it's a French alt rock/80s revival/electronica/shoegazingish band. Anyway the dude (its mostly 1 guy) makes incredibly emotional and epic (before epic was overused) music. I'm by no means a big electronica fan, and I listen to way too much, but this band is so soothing, and their new album is ridiculously meticulous and deep. Just saying I'm often dissapointed by new albums (ATS, Watch the Throne) but sometimes an artist actually improves and sets the bar again. BTW: this album just leaked, and the label has done a great job taking down the torrents, But I'm gonna buy the vinyl when its released so no biggie Old song: New Hurry Up, We're Dreaming Song (not at all the best on the album, just only one not deleted on youtube:
So many people listen to M83 who I wouldn't expect, so weird. Will probably grab the album a bit later.
I've given most the songs multiple listens and the album is still amazing. Best songs are Intro, Roconte-Moi Histoire, and Another Wave From You. The layers are so deep and the reverb is so smooth. Excellent sleeping, late night cruising music.
I got introduced to them when Lights tweeted about listening to their album. "Dead Cities, Red Seas And Lost Ghosts" is incredible, can't say I've had a chance to listen to their latest effort though.
