In response to not making MTV's Hottest Emcees List, Lupe released a new song called Fire. Lupe said...

NOTE: This song will not appear on Lasers.

Great song, love Lupe. Didn't hear about 'the list', but I think lists are stupid and usually completely wrong for the most part.

Why does Kanye get so much shit for his ego, and yet this guy, who has proven time and time again to be totally full of himself, is almost universally praised?

At least Kanye never said he's going to quit the music business because he isn't as famous as he wants to be.

What's interesting is this track sounds more and more like you're listening to Kanye West as it progresses. At times I was like, '...wait is this Kanye West? No it's Lupe speaking like Kanye.'

MTV doesn't know anything. Eminem wasn't even in on the top 10.

Many would he agree he has been fairly awful recently, though.

MTV got it right for once, though, with having Drake on that list.

Because Lupe is a far superior rapper in comparison.

    This.

I can't speak for anyone else, but unless I've missed something big on Lupe's part I don't think they're that comparable in terms of how they act outside of music.

I would like to see something backing this up because as far as I know, Lu is a pretty humble guy. He is arguably the best lyricist out today so any cockiness in his raps is by far earned.

Kanye is allowed to have an ego. One, it's entertaining. Two, he's been quite successful thus far. Lupe... not so much.

    I think they all suck.

There's way better hip-hop out there.
