Honestly, the deluxe edition of Recharged looked pretty damn cool to me, so I went to the preorder page and it's FIVE HUNDRED FRIGGEN DOLLARS. WHY?! Is it the sculpture piece ? Wasn't the ATS deluxe edition like $200 or something? This is crazy. It looks amazing and really beautiful, but c'mon man, I can't allow myself to spend that much money on a deluxe edition of two albums. It just seems like way too much. What do you guys think?
I got the ATS deluxe edition for $100, I believe. I was also looking forward to getting this album, but a $500 item isn't for me. As a college student paying rent, I can't afford this at the moment. I'm not sure about how much one of those sculpture pieces goes for, but if I were to guess, the product is $500 merely because it is limited edition.
According to Mike the limited edition was extremely expensive to produce and ship and the band is basically selling it at cost, or what it's worth.
The main difference between this bundle and the "A Thousand Suns" one is that sculpture so I assume that it is indeed the main reason for the high price.
The ferrofluid solution is extremely awesome, but really cool things usually come with a very high price. This is the case here. Yeah it sucks that it is so expensive, but you also don't need it to prove how big of a Linkin Park fan you are. Yes it would be cool for a collection, but you don't need to spend half the rent on it. I have more important things to spend my money on and I'm okay with that. It doesn't make me any less of a fan that the guy who bought one of those.
Exactly. If you're eager to give to the band but don't want to shell out $500, buy the standard edition or purchase a digital copy. Perfectly valid options.
I'm sure it'll be on sale for less than half its original price when a year has gone by and they still haven't sold half of these things. MTM deluxe edition was $100 at first, and you could find it at Hot Topic for $40 like 8 months later.

I bought the super fan pack of MTM in 2007 at 100 bucks (later on the year after to be sold at hot topic for like 40 wtf), and I bought the super fan pack for ATS in 2010 for 100 bucks. I was expecting there to be a 100 dollar option like before, but I didn't have enough money to pay for the super fan pack for Recharged. Whatever though, it's only a remix album essentially, and that is way out of my price range to spend..
