I'm, as almost everybody here, a rly big fan of LP.
So why not joining their fanclub?

    Hmm, i dont know.
Some people say it's not rly special, and if its special. What makes it special?
I mean the LPA has interviewed Phoenix some weeks ago/month and I never see something special from the LPU somewhere(mayb cus im not @ LPA).
I know, if you're a member of the LPU, you support 'your' band. But what do U get back?

i'd say yeh for some years yes and no for others. the fact you can get your hands on pre-sale tickets made me sign up for this years..

not only do you get all the LPU goodies, and the pre sale stuff, theirs a members only site which is pretty good this year, downloads and media only the LPU get a chance to get hold of :)

so to answer your question, it really depends. if you want to pay for it using your hard earned cash then i'd say go for it

Well i'm an absolutely massive Linkin Park fan. But why haven't I joined the LPU? Well firstly if you live outside the US, and you're a kid without a credit card. You're pretty much screwed for a payment method. Alright, yes I could go through the hassle of persuading my parents that it really is secure, and trying to understand whether I can pay in dollars as i've only got Pounds. However the real problem is that you don't get enough, okay, yes the CD alone is worthwhile, but that's the problem. It is ridiculously easy to download any LPU CD, and as soon as I have it then it really becomes pretty much pointless for me to join. And don't get on my back about how i'm doing a really bad thing by downloading LPU stuff, I don't believe we should be paying for it in the first place. I believe a fundamental of making music is that you shouldn't be in it for the money. You should just want every person possible to be able to hear your music, that's what it's all about. Of course Warner no doubt saw the LPU as an amazing money making tool. And it needs to cover it's costs.
The main thing is meet & greets, and pre-sale tickets. Now, again, not living in the US, this is also annoying. Here in Cardiff there were no pre-sale tickets, and the meet and greet wasn't that great apparently either. Plus LP have only ever played here twice. Now don't get me wrong, i'm a determined enough fan to travel across the country to see them, it's just that I don't have the money.
In either case, I probably will end up joining the LPU, just not right yet. It depends on whether I love their "new direction", which I hope I do. And i'd join this week if they added Paypal to the payment methods. But anyway, I hope to see you on the LPU boards someday.
    I'll end my complaining now.
    Peace out.

I've been part of the LPU since 3.0 and I really wish I joined it back when it was good. You're not really missing much if you decide not to join it now. It all depends if you want to spend like $15 for Linkin Park accesories that you probably won't use (well...I don't) or collect the stuff that they send you.

It does balance itself out if you are in it for the presales and meet and greets. That's the only reason why I am in it. I have yet to meet Linkin Park because I ended up joining after their Meteora World Tour (which was stupid since they haven't really toured since) so I'm going to continue to be a member of the LPU until I do meet them.

But really, it's your decision to join or not.

This I have actually thought about alot. I've always wanted to join, because i felt that i would be a true "Fan". Now i know that i am a hardcore fan, whether i am in LPU or Not.

( i still going to join, if theres a chance for a meet & greet )

    :)

My opinion: not worth it anymore. The first two years were good, but I think it's gone downhill since then. Other than the disc and maybe a t-shirt, I don't think you get much else (website included). But then again I'm no longer a member so I can't say.

my god! you completely explained my position, except that i live in australia, and the only way i could get my parents to pay for the stuff
is if i steal their credit card. i don't even think i can go to concerts if they went to australia and i would geek out at the meet and greets.
