I thought it was recorded in 2008. I'd imagine that places it in the ATS era, probably as a start to see if the band was gonna go in a similar direction to that of MTM for LP4.
It was one of a handful of MTM demos worked on post-MTM though (along with at least Debris as it was shown in the Meeting of A Thousand Suns or an LPTV or something) which started the album number four process. I think that fits as being a demo for ATS but I do still usually just lump it in with the Minutes to Midnight tracks.
OMG, seriously???, I didn't know that this song is a part of Mall OST. *end of sarcasm* I used this song like example of a demo with vocals, vocals like "nana" not a demo that is only an instrumental. c'mon, see the last LPU cds (and the possible leak track), 10 tracks and only 4 with lyrics. I prefer 4 new songs or 10 demos (like the example) but No instrumentals. Maybe instrumental like "session" beacuse it was created (the structure) for be an instrumental. IMO
Shouldn't you be happy that you're getting something at all? 10 tracks. Each year. Almost guaranteed. Some with vocals. Some without. They don't have to do this for us. For a long time, they didn't. They have to spread the material out, or they will run out. I don't think you know how this works. They're demos. Demos have a much higher chance of being instrumental than vocal. And the CD isn't even out yet. You're complaining about nothing. You don't really have any footing to stand on here.
LPU13 had 4 tracks with a ton of vocals (Including Beta State's track produced by Mike), LPU12 also had 4 tracks with a ton of vocals, and LPU11 had 5. So I don't know what trend of bull you could possibly be coming up with.
Instrumental demos have always been designed as you hear them. It's not like there were vocals which were muted right before release or anything Besides, "Session" mostly uses an A/B/A/B structure the same way a pop song might use a verse/chorus/verse/chorus structure so I don't know what you mean there
Eh all of those are either ATS leftover stew or MTM stew. Robot boy fits in. I have not begun and Pretend to be is MTM stew, primo and Ammostick are more ATS stew, primo and Ammostick definitely give up a pre-LT vibe. So we really have gotten ONE true and dedicated demo from the middle process of ATS
i haven't read the whole thread but can anyone tell me when is the speculated release date of this album?
We normally don't post rumored track-lists, but the 'leak' of a track (with what sounds like Mike talking about it in the background) gave it more credence then your typical "leaked setlist" rumor. Still there's always the chance of bullshit, which is why we advised people to feel free to discuss it, but proceed with caution in trusting it's legitimacy. *EDIT* Looks like this may be fake. From our Facebook comments:
Thanks for the heads up. Titles were too good to be LP. Dip of real news covered with buncha fake news to try and look legit. That meteora demo sounded alright, though.
When Elaine used the context of "Stew", she meant it as the after tracks of an album session. Perhaps Pretend To Be would fit under that category, but I Have Not Begun is most definitely not "MTM stew", the song has almost no elements that would even place it in MTM not to mention the track is from 2009. As for Primo, it was worked on during the ATS writing process, not afterwards so no, not "ATS stew". Can't say too much for Ammosick seeing how the version that leaked could sound different from the ATS sessions version. Why would you be pissed about fake song titles? The titles in no way help shape what the songs themselves will sound like. By now you should expect early tracklists to be fake, hence the reason I questioned this even being added as news. Either way, Lorenzo said we'd find out the names of the tracks the day LPU releases so this is expected and won't be much longer so no point in getting upset over nothing.
Yep. Like how you eat something, put leftovers in the fridge, and then repurpose it for another meal later on. But with music. I wonder what musical notes taste like.
