Technically, Esaul *wasn't* heard before. It was a completely new version of a demo we were familiar with, with almost totally different lyrics. In The End is the only one we heard before, and even then it was mixed a *lot* better, so we heard things we didn't before.

    You're excused.

And the 'a 10 year old could play that' argument is so contrived. Yes, a 10 year old could play guitar like that. Like this kid:

Aside from that, how many times have the members of LP stated that the demos that were never released were really bad? I can recall at least three from specific DVDs and 'making ofs'.

Of course they're crap. They were never released.

    Think of it this way.

"Hey, rest of Linkin Park, this is Mike Shinoda. You may remember me from such albums as Meteora, Hybrid Theory, and that one album that nobody liked because it was different."

"What's up Mike Shinoda, member of the band Linkin Park, which is us?"

"The LPU, that is, the Linkin Park Underground, keeps asking us for demos and unreleased material from our past! They want them on the new LPU X CD!"

"Oh, but they're all inferior quality, Mike Shinoda! That's why they weren't on such successful albums as Hybrid Theory, Meteora, Minutes To Midnight, or A Thousand Suns!"

"Well then, rest of Linkin Park, we as a band, and by band I mean Linkin Park, will choose THE BEST DEMOS AND UNRELEASED MATERIALS and release them as LPU X!"

"By jove, Mike Shinoda, emcee, singer, and all-around-awesome-guy of Linkin Park, that's a great idea!"

    ROUGHLY A YEAR LATER

"Hey Linkin Park a year later, it's Mike Shinoda, also of Linkin Park, again! I have some bad news."

"What is it, fellow bandmember of Linkin Park?"

"The LPU wants more unreleased materials and demos!"

"But Mike Shinoda, we've already chosen the best demos of the lot and released them to the public!"

"Well then, rest of Linkin Park, we must go through and find material that didn't make it onto our albums, but is good enough to be on LPU 11, but WASN'T good enough to be on LPU X!"

ROUGHLY A YEAR LATER (LPU 12)

Mike: "Yeah we need demos again."
Band: "Are you kidd-......you know what, no nevermind. Just no. Fuck you."

I really wish most of the songs actually had lyrics on them. The demo of robot boy is a lot better then the album version! I like the instrumentals but I get to bored with them after a few listens with no lyrics in them

I still think Blue is better than some songs on the Hybrid Theory EP.

I agree. It's not that I totally hate Meteora (I know I make it seem like that at times, but it's actually an *alright* album), but I just find it astonishing how different the Meteora demos are from the final album we received. Sure they still have trademark power chords, and song structure from the Meteora era, but instrumentally they're far superior in parts. It's like, how much did Don Gilmore change that album? It seems like the band was already on track to write a great album, and Don Gilmore just came in and watered it down. I can't even begin to imagine how different Meteora would've been had Rick Rubin came in one album earlier, or if Mike had produced the whole thing.

I recant my previous statement purely because Derek agrees with me.

Why do you think I left?
I mean, other than insert name here's ineptitude, insert name here's perverted creepiness and overall asshole-ish attitude.

Won't happen. Inquired about that a while back, and was told it's pretty much never going to happen again.

I'm no expert, nor employed by the band...but I'd like to speculate that it's probably due to either: A. Cost (the band paid for the last LPU tour totally out of pocket), B. Lack of memberships to offset the cost (tying to option A) or C. a Warner thing.
