LPA Tribute to Chester/the Band.

I posted this in LP chat.

Worked up the courage to do a vocal tribute for Chester.

I can offer vocal help.

 

I'm down for a very well-done tribute, but I'm not sure how we can do it. This is the kind of stuff that I can offer:

 

I like the idea of making a music video (Maybe One More Light) where every line is sung by a different person and at the last chorus everyone sings together or something like that.

But I'm up for everything. Chester deserves it.

 

Yeah, maybe combined with footage of the personal storys, or of the meetups.
Maybe the gang vocals could even be made up of all the meeting groups singing together.

But if we decide to do a thing like this, we have to promote it in a very special way, to make it truly stand out.

 

What a lovely idea! Gang vocals and that photograph idea sounds great.

I play accordion, guitar and sing a little.

 

I can sing. I'll be doing mine with another female vocalist soon. Or if in any way I can add onto this lmk. <3

 

I thought about something similar where we had something like one more light in the background and having our favourite moments of chester throughout his career as the footage and maybe have fan footage as well. I feel that maybe something the band would want to do though (If thats what they wanted to do especially with One More Light. I think that'd be a touching tribute if the band wanted to do that) but it's a thought i had

 

The remix/cover album would be good option for me. I want to make a cover of "Nobody Can Save Me" or "Sorry For Now" (I don't know yet, I just started thinking about it) in tribute to Chester, for example, and I see a lot of good covers and tributes in tribute to Chester, it would be easy to make and saying goodbye for Chester in a good way.

 

Does anyone know the piano notes (melody) (right hand) to one more light?

 

Just came across this tribute video... absolutely haunting version of Crawling. She might be a good shout for this project!

 

Derek and I were actually discussing this late Thursday night.

 

I would be down to collaborate on this if it materializes.

I'm not musically proficient or have proper equipment but I hope I can do something in this, a message or something. If you guys get a more concrete idea or direction please let me know on twitter or other social media, since I don't visit LPA often enough due to work reasons. (@Derek @Minus @minuteforce etc.)

I'm not very active here at all, but I would love to contribute. I do a bit of electronic stuff, and I can play the piano a little bit.

 

Not just a tribute. But also an awareness of what happened. That would be good.

 

Obviously the logistics of this would be hard to involve EVERYONE in. Maybe some of our prominent LPA musos record a cover of One More Light, and then those of us who have access to equipment record a vocal track to be mixed in as a gang vocal.

Others will know better but I'm sure we could mix it so that we could have an insane amount of voices in that vocal.

 

I already contributed in a small, but sincere way. I took a picture at the statue that the girl is drawing on the Numb music video at the Charles Bridge here in Prague. That was the way I found to pay a tribut to Chester and I'm thinking to record a cover of any LP song and post it on Facebook or Instagram. In my country the LP fans were organizing a meeting in Lisbon, which I would like to take part in.

 

The folks at /r/linkinpark are talking about doing a similar sort of thing but are still trying to figure out ideas. I told them about this and offered the idea of them helping out with this project or us collaborating on a big project together.

Thoughts?

Prevalent idea of mine has been to make a documentary/cover album hybrid, that way people can contribute in any way they can. It was brought up that a lot of people aren't proficient at speaking English well so a documentary might not work, but others didn't like the music part. And if we make it a big release like @Astat mentioned people who would rather do art or something of the like can help. Personally I felt it might be a good idea to take songs from throughout the catalog, not just focus on OML, if covers/remixes are involved. One More Light, Waiting for the End, Final Masquerade...
