September's Monthly Mix-Up was a bit of a change-up after August's Dubstep/Reggae contest. After receiving many complex and multi-layered entries last month, we decided to go the opposite route and have our community members strip away Linkin Park songs to their core with an acoustic challenge. We're very encouraged by the amount of enthusiasm shown by participants in our September challenge, which was illustrated by the twelve entries we received. All twelve entries were live acoustic covers of a myriad of Linkin Park songs, and we want to commend these participants for showing the bravery to pick up an instrument and lend their voice to their recordings.

Without further ado, the winner of LPA's Monthly Mix-Up: September challenge, for the theme of Acoustic/Unplugged is...

    WINNER: rawrzar - Valentine's Day

Rawrzar joined our forums in 2007 and has been a long-time reader without posting. His personal spin on "Valentine's Day" took only one shot to master, and we're glad he came out of the shadows to share this with us!

RUNNER UP: Acoustic Park - Iridescent

This two-piece ensemble from Australia incorporated a piano and acoustic guitar in their cover of "Iridescent", complete with backup vocals and harmonization. The duo also submitted a well-received cover of "New Divide" earlier in the contest, but felt their take on "Iridescent" was stronger. Great job guys!

RUNNER UP: Puresque - Wretches and Kings

Forum regular Anne scored major creativity points from us for changing the vocal structure of "Wretches and Kings" to suit her acoustic backbeat. We felt the song, which also includes bongos, fulfilled the spirit of these contests, which is to try new things and push the envelope. Well done, Anne!

We'd like to thank all participants for entering this month, and look forward to future entries from everyone! This was a difficult month to judge and a consensus was difficult to attain, which is a testament to your talents!

Stay tuned for the announcement of the theme for LPA Monthly Mix-Up: October. This month we're getting back to remixes!

Congrats to the winner and runner ups. I enjoyed Puresque's version of Wretches and Kings the most because it was so different from the original, great job.

Yes, even if the guitar might need some improvement, what she did with her voice is pretty amazing, a very diverse approach to create a whole new suggestive song.
    Congrats to everyone tho.

Anne took a song that had zero acoustic elements, and completely transformed it...almost turning it into a new song. I personally was impressed from the beginning, and always enjoyed her cover. It just goes to show, even with nothing more than an iPod mic, its still possible to create something cool =) haha.
