I do not believe you are.
How is sampling supposed to fit into the catergory of 'unplugged/acoustic'?
And for that matter, how does mutlitracking, appling orchestras and whatever else people have been doing fit in with the theme?
Everyone is giving love to these covers and kind of losing sight of the 'acoustic/unplugged/raw' idea. Spare a thought for those of us who, for what I can tell, did it properly.
No Joke . It's MIDI mania. New Divide ftw!
Because strings are still an acoustic instrument, and it was stated that programming is allowed as long as the programming represents an acoustic instrument. On top of that, I can't sing and play guitar simultaneously, so I had no choice but to multi-track at least in regards to guitar and vocals.
Welcome to LPA.
We allowed Midi as long as it sounded acoustic and didn't violate the concept of this month. We understood that not everyone would have an acoustic guitar just sitting by, and we didn't want to limit this contest to a very small number of entries. As for the claims by members of people violating the rules of the contest, we can promise that whoever gets picked will be based on whomever followed the rules exactly and who was closest to the original idea. So no worries folks. Also, next month's contest is going to be going back to the remix roots of the contest, and it's going to be a MUCH easier category which means more people can enter, but of course...as always, only the best person will win.
We'll release more info on that in about a week when the acoustic contest is over.
Thanks man, long time reader, first time user.
Those are our favorite types of members . Feel free to introduce yourself in Newbie Camp and tell us more about who you are (when you first found LPA, what you like, where you're from, how old etc etc).
How does multitrack recording conflict with "unplugged/acoustic" in any manner? Multitracking is a recording technique. "Unplugged/acoustic" is a style of music. I suppose you could argue that multitracking is a less "raw" way of doing things, but "raw" is also an incredibly vague adjective, and there isn't any stipulation that says your recording has to be a live performance...
Well said Mr. Pus.
NOW GET TO UPLOADING THAT COVER YOU PROMISED .
That's fair.... but everything else Cure said I agree with... Like sampling. I reckon the only thing a computer should be used for is for a program to record with.
I'm glad I did not do NRL. No offense meant to you, I just mean that had I done the same song, I feel that 2 covers of the same song would have only been compared to each other as opposed to compared to the rest of the entries.
Honestly, I did not think anyone else would pick this song up, and I did not know you were going to do it.
Have you posted any song in the previous 21 pages? I'm too lazy to look, lol
No need to post it everywhere Hybrid.
Haha! Hey I was just being courteous to Jake... If it meant having to repost it, I'm not gonna complain.
Officially dropping out--I can't find the right song and couldn't get it right. Congrats to whoever wins!
Can Matthew Moore and Lewis Maxwell (Me) from Acoustic Park enter a different song into the competition? There by eliminating New Divide in place for a different cover?
I am pretty sure you can. I think it happened in last months contest.
AcousticPark: Go ahead, but quickly! Contest closes in less than 48 hours.
Acoustic Park - Irridescent.
Let me know if it needs to be an audio file
Cheers and good luck to everyone else
It would be easier to upload to SoundCloud with the following image as the cover thing, as it is stated on the first page.
And somewhere in the title/desc. it must have "LPASSOCIATION.COM Monthly Mix-Up Entry:" in it.
Separate names with a comma.
