LPA Monthly Mix-Up November 2012: CASTLE OF GLASS Free-For-All Winner

    November marked another fantastic month for LPA's Monthly Mix-Up Remix competition. Celebrating the recent release of CASTLE OF GLASS as a single, we challenged Linkin Park fans to take a fan favorite "CASTLE OF GLASS" and remix it into a style and genre of their choice in a CASTLE OF GLASS Free-For-All. Proving that our MMU shows no signs of slowing down, our members dug deep to come up with some incredible entries, doing justice to an amazing song in more ways than we thought possible. Without further ado, we present to you the winner and runners up:

    "Wow" is the first word that comes to mind when describing m_macdonald's breathtaking and absolutely phenomenal re-interpretation of CASTLE OF GLASS. Playing off of the song's folk roots, Mike dug deep within his celtic heritage (recording his own violin, guitar and other instruments) to create a new version of the song that left us breathless upon it's first listen. Deserving a place not only on top of this month's MMU but perhaps on a future single release, M_macdonald doubles the song's original running time, while creating a folk masterpiece that thrills from start to finish. Submitted the final day of the competition; Mike almost didn't get his entry in time, but we're glad he did as it stands up as one of the best remixes we've ever had in these competitions. Incredible job Mike, you continue to amaze us.

    While December's theme has taken on more of a potentially humorous turn (LP vs Christmas Music), we're still looking forward to the submissions after hearing what a wonderful month November was. There were a lot of absolutely fantastic entries, and we thank everyone for their participation. Great job all!

    Man, THANK YOU LPA!! So glad you liked it! It was a bit of a risk and took a lot of work, so I'm delighted that people are enjoying it. Really appreciate the kind words here and over in the contest thread.

    I liked all of the remixes listed in the news post. Another great month for the MMU!

    What makes me happy, is what originally started out as a risky idea back in August of 2011...has persevered and gone on to be a force within the Linkin Park music community, even going as far as to be shouted out by Mike Shinoda numerous times a year later. We were worried that these contests wouldn't last, but on the contrary...it seems now that they show no signs of stopping. I was worried when we first did this that fans wouldn't contribute, but now we get new people submitting remixes every month with many being better than the officially released ones. GREAT WORK guys!

    Congratulations Mike. Amazing fucking remix. It was so amazing I made the most stupid timed comment in the history of the internet :lol: Also, Derek I'm glad MMU's where successful. Because I love the monthly mix up. It's fun and drives people to unleash their full potential and creativity.

    Whoa, that was pretty amazing. I didn't expect to like it as much as I did.
    I love the variety; things stayed fresh throughout the entirety of the song, and that above anything else is to be commended.
