If the album sounds anything like this I'd be very happy. But ATS teached me not to think so.
(meaning trailers sounding even close to the album).

Hmmmm Skin and Bones is a Foo album, but I don't think LP follow their discography's to closely since they aren't the best of friends (Grohl calling them out about playing samples and LP being upstaged at Weenie Roast last year).

Skin and Bones is a live acoustic album so I don't think it matters

Lol, it's just pure speculation. For all we know, the title "Oneforty" could be something completely different. I'm not familiar with music as much as I'd like to be, and all I know is that dubstep is usually tracked at 140 BPM.

One Forty could be the title name, ;)

    haha not really

  9. What's wrong with dubstep? As linkin park does something amazing with it, it'll be fine for me.

Bleed It Out is 140 BPM. Is that Dubstep? No.

Don't generalize a song based on tempo.

if LP would make dubstep, it would not be dubstep, it would be LP's dubstep, you know what I mean ? :nyan:

Is even inutil to debate with people about that. The nowaday medium-person knowledge and definition of music divides into:
    -Dubstep, commercial, amazing, like-Bieber-music, weed-music.

There is no more space for creativity, no more effort in thinking "hey he just used that tempo and that instrument, so IT IS that genre (aka The Catalyst being a techno song)" and totally forget or purposely understimate all the other "experimental" stuff that goes into it.
People can't define a genre for one thing only. To think LP going Dubstep shows this musical immaturity or misunderstanding in all ways. Mike did a wobbely bass in The Raid, I used it too in one of my tracks, yet none is dubstep. It is influenced at some degree, but developed in a total new package of sounds and genres that the simple-person can not and won't ever understand.

I'm confused a little bit here. I made a comment simply stating that Oneforty may be a dubstep song because dubstep generally falls around 140 BPM. Dubstep is mainstream nowadays, so I don't see it being completely ruled out, nor do I see an issue of me bringing it up as a possibility. Whether you don't want to see Linkin Park do dubstep is a different story and is a matter of opinion. Linkin Park has switched it up numerous times in the past, so I don't see that being something that would surprise you.

Yes, a large percentage of people are now getting into dubstep and "bieber" type music because it's more widespread and available through the radio, word of mouth, etc. It's a phase and people are loving it. Would I blame a specific type of genre for making someone "less creative"? Absolutely not. It's up to the person alone to decide whether they want to venture out of their comfort zone and listen to other music. Their lack of knowledge of music doesn't mean they're stupid.

Don't worry, I wasn't talking of you, but bringing Derek's comment to a more amplified visual, and I really more specifically referred to people calling The Catalyst a techno song because of one single sound, and during the Blackout remix of Renholder, to say a wobbely bass fits only into Dubstep. I didn't even read your post until now :)
Nor I didn't say the word "stupid". What I meant is "close-minded".

If Linkin Park would approach anything close to dubstep, I'm sure it would take out the best of it and mutate into something different and not categorizable.
And no, I wouldn't blame also anybody for the music they listen, I blame the ones who says "it sounds like Bieber" just because, for example, of an electronic beat and compare two different things just to say it sounds like crap.
