There has always been that extra flavor and kick that seperates Linkin Park from other acts out there. I believe their enigmatic sound has always been presented at a greater degree when they're on stage. Through their random intro and outro sequences, the band keeps things fresh and show that they are still full of surprises. This is actually the first time I've seen the band emphasize this layer from the song live! Pretty cool. Let's dig some out some more and enjoy again!

Yeah that was fucking awesome when they did it in Sydney in '07. No one except me seemed to know the words though

I did! ;D I was up the back, all "BE ME? FUCK THAT, NOT LIKELY", definitely a hightlight of that show. I was expecting lots of crazy new intro/outro shit on the "A Thousand Suns" run since they talked so much about switching up the older songs to fit alongside the newer songs but, whatever. I was still happy with the set.
I think they come up with some amazing stuff during practice and pre-show performances. Brad plays some incredible riffs to make the whole show seamlessly flow in between songs. It's simple but professional. If you've listened to Given Up from the Tel Aviv show (it's probably on other recent shows too) you can hear what sounds like a Super Mario 'level-up' and 'level-down' on the 2nd Verse after getting the magic mushroom to grow. Good stuff and it carries alot of energy. --RS
My favorite intro of all time:
I love this version of the Radiance as an outro for Numb and intro for Breaking the habit. Sounds epic... best What I´ve done Intro:
As far as the current tour goes, the No Woman No Cry intro was fucking awesome for The Messenger. But my favorite intro was for By Myself on Live In Texas.
Yeah the By Myself intro on Live in Texas is so bad ass, and I also love that Numb Radiance Outro. That papercut intro was so dope, wish Mr. Hahn would scratch more / turn up his scratches in the song mixes.
These are awesome. Hybrid Theory could have a lot more depth if they added in these intros as separate tracks. They've probably added an intro or outro to every one of their HT songs live. That'd be cool to have studio versions of that.
It's not that the band 'emphasises' that audio, it's just the audio's, like, raw from the soundboard or something so you can hear things you wouldn't normally hear, and you won't hear things that are usually far louder and clearer. One of my favourite live recordings of "Papercut" is this one, where you can hear some lead melody happening during the bridge underneath Joe's scratching.
I hope they would put in more intros/outros to the upcoming tours, it seemed a bit less on the start of the tour.
I'm searching for a video of the intro for Valentine's Day from 2008 but I can't find a video with it! I was at the Manchester, NH 2008 show and they started doing the intro at that show, it was premiered there.
