Sorry for Now quite underwhelming. Hate the instrumental. And the wee sound effects after the first verse and at the ending are so annoying.
Sorry for now is exactly what I would expect if someone told me they were going the pop route, I love it!
Lyrics for Nobody Can Save Me Now (some parts may be incorrect/couldn't fully understand the last line of the pre-chorus, so if someone's able to point it out, thanks): I’m dancing with my demons I’m hanging off the edge Storm clouds gather beneath me (???) break apart my (???) At first hallucination I wanna fall wide awake now You tell me it’s alright Tell me I’m forgiven tonight But nobody can save me now I’m holding up a light Chasing out the darkness inside ‘Cause nobody can save me Stare into this illusion For answers yet to come I chose a false solution But nobody proved me wrong (No) At first hallucination I wanna fall wide awake Watch the ground giving way now You tell me it’s alright Tell me I’m forgiven tonight But nobody can save me now I’m holding up a light Chasing out the darkness inside ‘Cause nobody can save me Been searching somewhere out there For what’s been missing right here (I wanna fall wide awake now) I’ve been searching somewhere out there For what’s been missing right here I wanna fall wide awake now So tell me it’s alright Tell me I’m forgiven tonight And only I can save me now I’m holding up a light Chasing out the darkness inside And I don’t wanna let you down But only I can save me Been searching somewhere out there For what’s been missing right here
So I have a ten minute break in My class. Immediately put my headphones in. Nobody Can Save Me sounds amazing!!!!!
I feel personally that the band has finally found a way to resonate with people again. The last few records lacked that intimacy that albums like MTM had so it's great to see that again.
I don't know how I feel about the album yet. Like I am really conflicted. It could honestly land in the top 3 of LP albums or at the very bottom. All I can say for certain now is: Sorry For Now is bae. Even if I end up only liking half of the album, that one song will still remain an absolute beast of a pop song. It's perfect.
No love for Halfway Right? Well, opinions differ, but for me this song is perfection. Already listened to it over 20 times. Basically, this has the potential of being my favorite Linkin Park album of all Time. It has to go through the aging process, though. Literally no song I don't like right now.
It's the worst album they EVER made (it does not mean it sucks). I save only Talking to Myself and One More Light
Okay after multiple listen of this album, I can somewhat make a judgment. I like the album but it's still kinda underwhelming in a way. Absolute Favourites: One More Light, Talking to Myself, Halfway Right Good: Battle symphony, Sharp Edges, Sorry for Now, Invisible Not really feeling it: Heavy, Nobody Can Save Me, Good Goodbye Final Score: 7.0/10 It's disappointing when your favorite band releases an album which you don't fully love. But you gotta just move on and wait for future releases
This album is gorgeous from front to back for me. Loving the melodies on the songs. Sorry for now is very surprising in a good way, other than that I really felt Nobody Can Save Me and Talking To Myself the first listen. I rate the album 0/10 "Pop" and just 10/10 "Linkin Park" which is perfect for me. Overall this is such a great evolution of music making from the guys! Well done and I'm still so proud to be a fan of LP. Can't wait for that big ass box full of sweet OML stuff to arrive at my doorstep.
Side note, I noticed my physical copy of the album has not shipped yet according to their store website. Shit better be 2-day shipping or overnighted then. Anyone else having the same issue?
I feel like the albums that are (this) divisive among fans are always the most interesting ones. To listen or not to listen.
We have to face the fact that the fanbase is incredibly divided right now. Sure, there are some "middle-of-the-road" opinions about OML, but its overall reception has been quite underwhelming, to say the least. I for one lost most of my hype when it was revealed how intentionally poppy the album was crafted to be, seeing how pop is my least favorite style of music at the moment. Also, I've purchased every studio album from LP (except Recharged, not sure if that counts, really), and I can assure you, pre-ordering The Hunting Party was most certainly not a bad decision, at all. The lyrics booklet with the additional artwork truly is awesome, and you can see just how much effort James Dean and the digital artists put into it. In fact, THP is easily in my top 3 albums from LP, and may also be one of my favorite Hard Rock, Alternative Rock, and Alternative Metal albums from any band (yes, it really could be any of those genres, plus more). "Generic" music or not, LP proved how inspired they could be when they push themselves creatively, especially for music they hadn't directly put out before, at least not in large quantities. Brad and Rob showed the most progress with their signature instruments without a doubt. Chester's vocal style on that album may not be for everyone, I get it, but he nonetheless demonstrated that he could still bring the aggression and soothing melodies, sometimes in the same song. As for Mike, his rapping was on point with the flow, energy, and aggression, even if his lyrics could be hit or miss at times. Overall, I liked the themes that he touched on in his verses, as they complimented the frantic, in-your-face nature of the album. So, the short version: THP was a major step in the right direction in more ways than one for Linkin Park, most notably with the instrumentation and the technical side of things. I fear, for the time being, that OML may turn out to be a step in the wrong direction in more ways than one, though my opinion may change once I've heard the album, hopefully tomorrow night. Yes, I pre-ordered OML when it was first announced, and will be getting the official t-shirt, too.
So ive been a fan since the beginning and yes i do prefer "heavy" lp but i do have an open mind and have found something about each album I love. To me OML doesnt feel like an album. It feels sort of like a special deluxe LPU. I find it interesting they spent much more time on melody's and lyrics this time and it def shows as the instrumentals are bare bones. But it makes me even more surprised that I just find all the melody's just unappealing.
Agreed, I caved being in this thread. I just listened to Sorry For Now. Honestly a top 10 Linkin Park song of all time. Mike's vocals are heavenly and Chester's rapping is amazing.
