For Sharp Edges, you need to listen to the album My Head Is An Animal by Of Monsters and Men. It absolutely scratches that itch.
Did Mike and Chester keep their writing separate this time around? Also having a hard time trying to figure out who this album is supposed to cater to. On one hand, you have the energetic electronic-based beats that the hip young crowd will like, but you also have the heartfelt and personal lyrics (especially with OML) that are more for the older crowd who've also gone through heart-break.
Thanks. Wait. Isn't Little Talks from it? Love that song and its music video. Will listen to the album in full now.
I got a bit of a Mumfords & Sons/Lord Huron vibe from Sharp Edges. Highly recommend the latter if you're into folk.
No, it's the sound of a band doing what they've been doing since the start - that's the sound of Hybrid Theory.
Yes it is. It clearly sums up from the album artwork. LT and THP are my least favorite from the band.
Halfway Right has many hints of Stay by Rihanna, which is also the same/similar chord progression as Chapel Song by We Are Augustines.
just heard the leak. all the songs sound the same. its hard to tell where one song ends and the next one begins. they keep reusing the same sounds.
Just downloaded a leak. The production on Talking to Myself, which I loved live, is dogshit. Dreading how the rest of the album unfolds.
This is why i lurk and barely post anything. I understand that lpa is comprised of a lot of differing opinions and that there is no true lpa stance on something as subjective as an album. I wasnt trying to make a statement suggesting that. That said, it has seemed to me like several times since this album cycle has began that when people havent enjoyed the new material there has been a degree of pushback from others. I refer more to the various posts of the band owes us nothing, you have to be polite if you dislike the new songs, you're just being biased if you dislike the new material. Its been spread over the course of several threads but its just added up over time to me. I could just be simply over reacting to it, or that its always been this way on album cycles and i just never noticed. I've liked the last several albums so i was on the otherside of the fence so to speak. But having a negative opinion of the new album I've felt like my opinion just hasnt been wanted here. I've been lurking on here for a long time. I'll probably continue doing that.
YES! An album that's upbeat and actually has a happy vibe to it, for the most part. Been obsessed with Sorry for Now since the clip, and it did not disappoint. And I love how they did the guitars in this album. Subtle, but very creative and different for them. Not sure how people are saying they're all the same songs.. they're pretty unique from each other. I can see how the electronic elements turn people off though - fortunately that's my type of music!
Using the @Minus tier system that he introduced in 2012 or 2013. SS: Nobody Can Save Me, Sorry for Now S: Halfway Right, One More Light(or A), Sharp Edges A: Good Goodbye, Talking to Myself B: Battle Symphony C: Heavy D: F: Invisible Overall album: A
I've been lurking on this forum for years, but never post anything. After listening to OML, I felt the need. Holy shit. As the singles started coming out, I was a bit let down, as I know a lot of people were. But hearing this album from start to finish, it all clicked. Its been said many times, but Sorry For Now is incredible. Best song they've put out since ATS.
