(4/1/03, 1 p.m. ET) -- If Linkin Park's new Warner Bros. album, Meteora, debuts at Number One on the album sales chart on Wednesday (April 2)--as it's expected to--it won't be thanks to Olsson's Books And Records stores. Olsson's is a chain of eight stores in Maryland and Virginia that has decided not to sell Meteora during its first two weeks of release because of the album's suggested retail price of $19.98. General manager Brooke Higdon explains the decision by saying, "It is our buyers' opinion that Meteora's list price does not represent good value for money for customers, and crosses the line in the manufacturer's continuing exorbitant pricing structure." -- Chiam Chad Dougatz, New York Taken from LAUNCH. if thats for the edition with the DVD, the price isnt too bad. I was suprised when the version with the DVD was only $15, I thought it would be at least $20
That's just the suggested retail price. The store could give the album away for free if they wanted to. Personally, I think that's pretty dumb and selfish of them to not sell it because of the suggested retail price. It's just like car commercials. You see ads that say "manufacturer suggested retail price" (M.S.R.P.) yet most of the cars aren't sold for what they say they're being sold for in the commercials. It's strictly up to the dealer. Same with the store. Greedy b*stards.
Amen brother! [/b][/quote] It CoUlD bE wOrSe any way warner is way too greedy, and the the store that is doing this is stupid, plaina nd simpel, i got my copy for 12.99, or actually less since i pre-ordered, they gave me a dollar back, and target sells those for 9.99, off with their heads
