I'm also happy with the range Chester used for vocals. I never like it when they have him sing as high as he can for the sake of it. That's the reason ALTNC never sounded good live.
I'm liking the fact that besides a few particular Debbie Downers this track has been getting nothing but praise. The entire hardcore fan base is for the most part rejoicing. For the mainstream fans... Well let's just say they're about to get a LOUD awakening.
Is it the best Linkin Park song in the world? No. That being said, I find it refreshing to hear some hard rock from LP again. This coming from a person who's favorite album (LP or not) is A Thousand Suns. My only complaint, though minor, is that we don't get to hear Mike rapping. A little back and forth between Rakim and Mike would have been awesome! Maybe live...we can all hope
Yes I am very obviously aware. But the fact remains that when this is played on the radio, people are going to be shocked.
I will let it seek in for now. Will listen again tomorrow. But damn, if anything, that's one of the most surprising things I've ever heard from LP. Even with all those rumors about heavy, I wasn't expecting something like this at all. Wow.
Loved every aspect of the song. Was Rakim absolutely needed? Probably not. I wonder how Mike would've sounded/What his take would've been on this song if he rapped. Totally energized for the summer though!
Okay, piss off with this "Debbie Downer" shit. I'm not letting the excitement of new music cloud my judgment on whether or not I think this song is good or not.
ill give GATS without a doubt a 10 but again that rakim bridge ruined it for me even i would rather that part was an instrumental only bridge sorry for the hardcore fans edit:i dont liked the fact that chester sing with STP and i dont like that this rakim sings with LP theres a said in spanish (i dont know) zapatero a tus zapatos
Omg I was already stoked for the carnivores tour and now this!?!? Can't stop listening to it that into is awesome.
I'm not going to listen to this song on repeat forever like I did with Burn It Down. I Burned myself out by the time the album came out, now I skip it every time. I like the album direction and production, I just hope on most songs chester screams and gives off a more gritty vocal display. I know he has more left in him. And yeah, mike rapping over the heavy guitars will once again be awesome.
Rakim is definitely not needed. It isn't bad, but I would rather have Mike or nothing at all. Best LP song? Not even close. Refreshing? Damn right.
