I'm rooting for a more down to earth album if it comes to instrumentation. More simplistic instead of walls of sound at least would be very welcome to me. Listening to STP EP with Chester was quite refreshing a few days ago. Also still love some of the vocal melodies on that one. I don't wish for a rock sound/album in particular but just a bit more stripped. The theremin and the "boom-boom" session with the boxes don't directly point in that way but the talk about hard-hitting lyrics gives me hope haha. Still waiting for a real tear-jerker from my favourite band in the world... can't really get into/relate enough to My December
Yeah, yeah, yeah...What if God was one of us...umm*ahem* nvm. Anyway, It's coming soon guys! I feel like next week is the week we get the single...I think? Also:
Lately, artists have just been skipping the press buildup and instead just dropping the single without notice. LP seems to be going that route, which is smart imo.
Yeah, really odd that. I agree, the 'silence' at this stage is quite unusual for a band like LP, who usually did tons of interviews and answered a lot of questions. The album is certainly DONE by now and there shouldn't be doubts about that. Also I remember during THP cycle there was this pic of a door with an A4 sheet saying "LISTENING SESSION", when they gave the press the first listen and that was with some anticipation. Perhaps they're being selective with the outlets for release? NDAs? I think there should be quite a few people in the marketing network who know something but aren't allowed to share anything. I just hope this thing rolls on soon.
And if I had to make a prediction I'd say we'd have a single hopefully by the 10th of February and the album will be out in April. Just my guess
I like what they are doing this time, THP was just ruined the way they just released songs as singles one by one and in the end we only were left with a song or 2 unheard when the album was officially out.
I don't think that "Making Plans" is a good name for an album, but I dig the album cover... very retro.
I think that with past album cycles that the hype ruined some of the records. Even with THP, Mike actually got some backlash for the comments he made about some band's latest records not being 'hard' enough. So this is a refreshing change. LP fans tend to cling on to any descriptor or 'catch phrase' the band says in interviews, and it tends to create wrong expectations about how the album will sound. A prime example being Chester's infamous remarks during MTM about doing 'so much screaming' only for MTM to sound completely different than what that quote (and QWERTY) gave expectations of. So I'm quite alright with the band toning down early hype, and likely just letting the music do the talking, if that's the route they're going.
They don't need to hype. They need to tell us something, gave us some info. It's starting to get annoying.
Hey, I actually think Making Plans would be a cool album name. And It would kind of fit the album I'm imagining they've made in my head, haha.
