My guess would be a more folk/indie-rock/electro vibe. Who knows though. Chester and Mike look like they're in a one republic music video lol
This... might be even better. Janelle Monáe + Solange + First Aid Kit. I need there to be a bit of folk, man!
There shouldn't be a part 2 of anything. The band always speak of challenging themselves and evolving so why create something that's already been done. They would just be talking out of their ass if they did that. Whatever the sound may be for the new record, if it's not like the other I would be more than happy.
I agree; my only concern is that the band's idea of "evolving" might be different to our's. For example, they've talked a tonne about how the new album's been written "backwards" (compared to their regular method). We don't know how different the result's going to be, so maybe we'll get songs that the band feels are new and different (because of how they were written), but to us, end up sounding quite similar to what they've already done. Similarly, they might go in a completely new direction in terms of overall sound, instrumentation and production, which the band might feel is exciting and fresh, but at the end of the day if Chester's singing the choruses and Mike's rapping the verses and every song is less than four minutes long, they're likely going to sound like Living Things or Minutes to Midnight. What I'm trying to say is that I have the utmost faith in the band that this album won't sound like any of the previous six. What we don't know is whether they'll just sound different on the surface or whether they'll actually be different in terms of structure and composition. I obviously love the band's music, so even if it ends up being "another Linkin Park record with a different sheen", I'll be perfectly content, but I guess what I'm trying to say is that I hope they do a bit more than that. I honestly think they will, but the question is: how much more?
I for one think this will be ATS - 2. Not musically. But in terms of how different it would sound from all previous LP records. I mean, Blackout and Waiting for the End are two of my fav songs of all time, not just from the band. Robot boy, When They Come For Me, The Catalyst, The Messenger. None of those songs sound like any other LP song out there. I really feel with all the new things they are trying on this album, it would sound something so drastically different that we'll be surprised at first. Similar to ATS in that regard.
