Linkin Park are giving members of the Linkin Park Underground a rare chance to collaborate with them in a new contest that may result in an appearance on the upcoming LPU13 album. Below is the newsletter sent out to LPU members via E-mail: What genre of music would you like to see win this contest? Are you entering in the contest? Stop by our forums and let's talk about it! Source: LPUnderground Via SuperDude526, Philsfan
I created a thread in the "Your Projects" section, about this. If anyone would like to receive a little help on their project for free, I encourage you to go check it out! My hope is that the winner will be able to transcend traditional genre classifications! Music that is unmistakably different, but familiar. I have high hopes this will manifest! It'll be like....A genre, within a genre, within a genre.
I'm going out on a limb to assume that any threads that were made about this contest prior to this news post will be merged with this one.
Looks like your assumption was correct! But you knew that. @Reflectionist Is it Hip-Hop? 5/8 could be dope! You have me interested, is there anywhere I can hear this track?
Wow, this is like THE best thing that any LP fan could want! There are some very talented musicians on this site, so hopefully someone from this community wins
Damn why is it that when I'm broke they do this...hmmm...must find a way to become an LPU member lol.
I'm far from confident in my abilities to enter this, especially with the folks here who are legitimately talented, plus all the tryhards who will, more than likely, spit out the most annoying-yet-mind-blowing over-produced tracks.
Engineering is an art form in itself! Though I will agree you definitely can over produce a track unintentionally. Just the nature of the repetition I suppose.
This could be cool. I'd love for a metal band to win, but that would never happen. I honestly don't care what is on the LPU CD's anymore, it's obvious we will never get the really rare demos that we have been talking about for years. I'd rather have something new and fresh like this instead of boring demos with no vocals and demos of songs we have all had (ITE, Esaul, Points Of Authority, Forgotten, What I've Done (M. Shinoda Remix).
Haha no thanks. I actually would like it more than having LIVING THINGS remixes on the CD. If I hear one more BURN IT DOWN remix I might go insane. Honestly though, this contest sounds awesome. I obviously won't be entering because I cannot sing or play music, but this would be awesome for someone to win. I hope Astat or Derek win this, they deserve it.
Am I the only person who looks at this as LPU13 not being another disc full of demos/unreleased tracks? Hopefully we can escape that trend. We received around 30-35 demo songs in the past few years and I think that's enough. Maybe like one or two per disc and some more new stuff would be nice.
I agree. Stuff like this would be cooler than having tons and tons of instrumental demos. I do like the demos that actually have vocals, we got some real gems in the past such as Across The Line, What We Don't Know, Pretend To Be, Slip, Blue, So Far Away and a few others. I do like some of the instrumental demos but it does get annoying having so many. I think this is a good opportunity for a skilled LP fan to be able to do something epic, and the song could actually be awesome, no one knows.
I wouldn't like that at all. I really like this LPU sessions idea, though. A side-release like the next LPU CD is the perfect place for a collaboration idea like this.
