Oh and Download Festival is recorded and they have tv highlights so I wouldn't be surprised if they released it as a DVD because Slipknot have done it before in the past releasing a DVD of a Download performance so I think they will anyway.
I seriously doubt the band is going back to nu-metal guys, I'd relax before jumping into any bad conclusions. The band probably misses playing high energy sets. There's no denying that some of the stuff from MTM and ATS has been a lot slower and mellower than what they used to play. In fact the band even said that was half the reason why LIVING THINGS was a 'firecracker record'. They wanted some songs that were fun to play live (although ironically they haven't played half of LIVING THINGS live which defeats the purpose of the record ). It's likely the band looking to enjoy themselves, and possibly film something for the impending 15th anniversary. Don't shit your pants and assume LP are going back to "nu-metal". ...which by the way was a bullshit title. Linkin Park barely had anything in common with some of the nu-metal acts that came out around that time. They should've never been looped in to the same genre. That mislabeling has hindered them for years and has given them a bad reputation in the 'mainstream rock mags'.
This is really cool! But yes, I'm also going to be that guy that says that ATS should be played in its entirety too...
Whoa, this was certainly out of the blue I don't see why they couldn't play "Reanimation" live from beginning to end, though It would make some great bonus content, for sure
Awesome news, Hybrid Theory was THE album that changed and influenced my music tastes as an early teen. I've still got the artwork as a poster, all framed, it had that much of an influence on me and still does. It's also great seeing Linkin Park and Hybrid Theory get so much attention on Twitter. Then you get Tweets like this: GØÐŁY @gigiekk 4m why is hybrid theory trending it was their edgiest and worst album Sigh, some people..
Holy crap! I really wish I could go. I really would love to hear By Myself and Forgotten again. Ahhhhhhh. I really do hope they record this.
My immediate thought was "fuck yes a new performance of forgotten!" I love the live versions of that song.
If anything, the more exciting prospect is how these songs may actually sound better. Think about it, the band has gotten better at performing live than they were in 2000/2001. Some of these songs haven't been played since almost that time. They could in theory sound better than they did back then. ...in theory.... I see what I did there.
My first LP concert, I pretty much saw Hybrid Theory in it's entirety. Haha. I've actually seen them play every track off of HT live. Still cool as shit to see though. False, they are still fans.
As long as they add a bunch of new intros, outros and extended bridges, it's pretty much a certainty.
Fans of Hybrid Theory and Meteora? Yes. Fans of Linkin Park? No. You can't like 2 out 5 albums (2 of 7 if you count the remixes) and call yourself a fan of the band. Especially when that band has moved on from that sound and doesn't plan to come back to it in the near future. Just my opinion, this is the way I think about this kinda stuff. I can become a bit ignorant when talking about stuff like this (please excuse any ignorance from me).
I've been wanting this to happen since day one. If any album should be played in it's entirety, it should be A Thousand Suns, not Hybrid Theory in my opinion, unless it's Hybrid Theory's anniversary, in which it will not be in June 2014, that's for sure!
