Comedy trio The Lonely Island are releasing a soundtrack album for their upcoming mockumentary film "Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping" on June 3, and the iTunes U.S. listing for the album reveals that one of the guest artists who will appear on the album is none other than Linkin Park. The band, or members thereof, have apparently collaborated with The Lonely Island on a new song called "Things In My Jeep". The "Popstar" album will largely consist of songs created for the fictional pop sensation Conner4Real, the protagonist and subject of the mockumentary. Other guests mentioned in the tracklisting include Adam Levine, Emma Stone, Seal and Akon. The soundtrack is set to drop on June 3 through Republic Records and is currently available for pre-order on iTunes, as noted in this post from the official LP Twitter feed: Check out one of the film's latest trailers below: What are your thoughts on Linkin Park branching out into the comedy genre? Just what are the things in the jeep? Let us know on our message board! Source: iTunes via Migueltorres
Damn. This might be good. Or bad. But they aren't really "Moving into the comedy genre"-- we've already seen tracks! Remember LPU8? But that was more the band making dumb tracks for the sake of dumb tracks. So I guess it doesn't really count.
Have a feeling it's just going to be Mike on the song but who knows. That might be a stupid assumption on my part.
Oh my god, this just might be the most brilliant collab they've had Also I hope this is a "Jack Sparrow"-like self-parody of the band hahahaha
I woke up, checked my phone, saw the notification for this without knowing TLI had a new album, and just went "the fuck...?"
Considering how cameo filled the film seems to be, I wouldn't be suprised if they show up in the movie too.
We'll know soon enough either way. Details like that don't stay hidden for long, and the movie drops in a few short weeks anyway.
This song is the SHIT, though (in a good way)
Things in my jeep.... A Mercedes Jeep perhaps? Chester and Phoenix looked like quite the comedy act already at Mercedes on Twitter last week. Love the news by the way.. and the song above promises some nice humor so I'm looking forward to this.
