well a 320kbps download has popped up , thats the best quality we can get , then when my cd is delivered, i'll get a nice 444kbps lossless
This album is solid, though I need to listen to it more to come to a conclusion as to where it stands for me. As always, not disappointed at all! The album felt like a 90s Hardcore Punk/Rock record. I can't pick favorites, a lot of tracks stand out. Anyway, Drawbar is so fucking awesome. One of my favorite moments on the album. It gave me the chills, and the last 40 seconds made me smile. Just so beautiful. Am I the only one? I certainly see this becoming a favorite of mine. Whether you're a fan of the track or not, you can't call it bad music. That aside, it's one of the most memorable moments on the album for me. Such a fun song. Love the vibe.
Okay, so after few listens: Awesome: Final Masquerade Rebellion All For Nothing Wastelands Good: Guilty All The Same Keys To The Kingdom A Line In The Sand Meh: The Summoning Drawbar Bad: Until It's Gone War Mark The Graves still 6.5/10
I am unwillingly doing that too, because i am from austria and when i am typing on my phone it automatically makes some words first letters big and its pretty annoying to change the letters after you've written a text
So Far, Keys to the Kingdom - 8 All for Nothing - 6 Guilty All the Same - 8.5 War - 7.5 Wastelands - 7 Until It's Gone - 7 Rebellion - 8.5 Mark the Graves - 7 Final Masquerade - 7.5 A Line in the Sand - 9 THP - 7.6
How can people numbers on a song? Personally I don't think you can put a numerical rating on something as subjective as music.
Well I've tried to rate the songs for 2 reasons : compare my opinion between them and give a general impression. Here are my thoughts : Keys To The Kingdom - 6.5 Good and funny, that's all. All For Nothing - 4 Meh, not my kind of music at all, I HATE that chorus. Guilty All The Same - 7 I'm bored of the song but it's a quite good track, I like the structure and the progression. The Summoning - 6 Strange but good intro for what's coming... kind of horrific. War - 7 ONE TWO, ONE TWO THREE FOR ! *headbangs all the way* Wastelands - 7.5 Classic, not surprising but very well executed. I like the groovy drums. Until It's Gone - 6.5 I like the song and it's welcomed at this point, but I don't like the repetition of simple lyrics. There are good moments in the verses. Rebellion - 8 A strong spot of the album, best chorus too. Someone talked about metal version of Castle of Glass, agree with that. Mark The Graves - 5 Blackout part3, experiment is cool but the mix between soft vocals and big guitars doesn't work for me. Too bad, I like the instrumental and that calm "one, two, three, four" from Mike. Drawbar - 8 great atmospheric intro to... Final Masquerade - 8.5 A very good ballad. I didn't like it at the first listen last week, but I'm in love with it. It's stucked in my head. A Line In The Sand - 6.5 Director's cut of Victimized. I don't know what to think about it yet. Note : 6.5 I appreciate the step up musically speaking, but hey, an overdose of guitars for me. I knew it since they announced the album, it's not my kind of music. AFN and MTG gave me a very mixed feeling about the album, but there are some very good songs too. I haven't figured it out as a whole, I need more listen to get the cohesion between all this.
Listened to the album on the way to and from work today at full blast so I have a good impression now. Keys To The Kingdom; 9 Great opener, Chester has noticeably become strained vocally with his mileage, but the maturity in his voice is fantastic. All For Nothing; 7 Another solid track, Mike definitely lays out his best rhymes since Fort Minor days, Brad steps up to the plate in the bridge. Guilty; 9 .. The Summoning/War; 7 Wont confess to listening to alot of Punk, but this song has balls, Chester nails it. Wastelands; 4 Totally out of place on this album, nice riffs I suppose behind Mike Until It's Gone; 6 Again, out of place on this album Rebellion; 8 ... Mark The Graves; 8 This one is a grower for sure, very heavily influenced by refused Drawbar; 9 Absolutely in love with Drawbar, not sure why Tom hopped on this one, he definitely could've featured on Until it's gone or Wastelands and layed a solo to save those songs instead. Final Masquerade; 8 Beautiful song, LP absolutely hit the nail on the head, Chester kicks ass. A Line in The Sand; 9 An epic ending to a great album, Mike's vocals really help this song shine, he has come so far as a vocalist. Overall; 8 (bare in mind I gave Living Things a 5 and ATS a 9). The album has balls, it's a breath of fresh air in a very stale music scene and I really appreciate the integrity and passion these guys put into their music. Mike absolutely killed this album, he outshines Chester with his cleans for sure. Brad, Dave & Rob stepped up when it mattered most and delivered, they will definitely have their respect given to them after this album. Rob especially.
Aren't you the guy who loves Until It's Gone, and said it was already one of his top 3 LP songs the day it released?
How...in any way...does this album even remotely resemble Meteora? I'll give them UIG, and *maybe* Wastelands, but otherwise...to compare this fantastic album to Meteora is an insult to THP. This album is leagues better than that record in every way. To be fair, I was totally for UIG at first too............"at first".
I agree. One of my favorite tracks is an eerie instrumental by Depeche Mode: Sibeling. If you like Drawbar give that a listen.
