''Live from the rhythm, it's Something wild, venomous'' ''As the sound climbs higher on this violent rhythm For you snakes in the grass, supplying the venom'' - Victimized It's crazy how similar their lyrics always end up being.
While it's still too early to judge, I have to admit with some that some of the lyrics makes me raise my eyebrows. This is just purely my view, but I have to say that the instrumentals of the singles sound more interesting than with the vocals. I can hear the layers of sounds more distinctly(yes even the guitars) so appreciation for it sonically has gone up, although the same can't be said for the lyrics so far.
Lol can't wait for the song to come out so everyone can Shut Up about Stormzy. I feel like it's gonna be a really good song with a sarcastic kinda vibe to it
It does what it sets out to do. What did people expect? It's a posse rap cut with 2 battle/gangsta rappers. Were you all expecting Right Now 2? (Which was also lyrically weak from all parties there too).
I'm trying to stay open minded, but I'm kind of scared of this track lol. Hopefully the whole album/live performances will help me appreciate it.
''Hoes'' in LP lyrics wtf. Wow, never thought they'll go so low. Do they need some new fans from da hood ?
I personally didn't have high hopes for this song beforehand, but I'm waiting to hear if the song itself changes my mind. Honestly, a good flow and instrumental can save a song from the writing. I'm hoping it's not 3 songs in a row that I just consider to be "meh". That would make it pretty hard to remain optimistic for the rest of the album. THP was already my least favorite studio album from them, so it'd be pretty disappointing to place their last two albums as my least liked they've made to date. At least "Talking to Myself" sounded good, and "Sorry for Now" should as well. Obviously you can't expect to like every single song they put out, so as long as there are even 2-3 songs on here I like, then I'd be content.
Lol someone isn't a fan of Stormzy. Idk, I definitely won't say these lyrics are great, but I also think all of you guys are looking for a really serious song and got a real shocker when you read the lyrics. I'm gonna wait till I hear the song, its hard to decipher how well lyrics work when you take them out of context, especially on a "sarcastic" track.
Totally; the title's great, don't know why people are getting so hung up over it. It's certainly better than half the other titles on the album. Dude Right Now has some of the best lyrics Mike's ever written IMO.
Because being able to write lyrics and/or music is TOTALLY prerequisite to being able to judge it. I'm no cook, but I can damn sure tell when my food is over or under-cooked at a restaurant.
LOL ya know to be fair, that does depend on someone's view of good rap lyrics. I'll say Right Now is actually pretty detailed for Mike and there are some nice lyrics, but this verse technically is better written. Of course, technical doesnt equal good either. I'm just surprised how people are taking so much offense to this. I guarantee if Eminem was on this, no one would bat an eye to offensive lyrics. Reminds me of when people were upset with Mike saying "fuck" on MTM.
So much this. Hip Hop and Rap have always been one of the obvious, higher end influences of the group, and not just with Mike. At it's core, hip hop is supposed to be fun, and none of these are a 5 minute verse about someone's friend's family's chicken's quality
