When I think of "outlier", I think of songs like Lies Greed Misery or Until it Breaks. I think of things that are just really far out there. I don't get the sense that this song will be like that. I'm optimistic. Lyrics be damned, I always enjoy LP's rap heavy songs. I'm stoked.
So ridiculous. Hoe is a word that rappers and adults use all the time hahah. I swear this generation is so soft. Grow up. It's a word. And not even a bad one.
Everybody's here debating about lyrics and Stormzy and all but I'm just here bowing down to KING PUSH
Since the album cycle started, I noticed a few 'One More Light' similarities to Phantogram's most recent 'Three' (highly praised by MS, by the way). Both are very personal, both started with lyrics and themes, both have songs about dealing with your loved ones' death, fighting with yourself, carrying the weight of something... Hell, both have ten tracks and album covers in similar colour scheme. So I remember when Phantogram shared the line off 'Calling All' lyrics saying "We all've got a little bit of hoe in us". And then the bitching began - on Facebook first, on Twitter then and it kept going until the album was dropped. So Linkin Park release 'Good Goodbye' lyrics, which say 'hoe' and what do we see? People bitching. I'm not criticizing, I'm just curious about the similarities Also, was anybody upset about Until it Breaks lyrics? All those 'I don't need to sweat it when the competition come', or 'My momma taught me words, my daddy built rockets', 'But learn to respect it 'cause you clearly can't stop it Like that'... Were these lyrics great or decent? Especially after something Mike brought to us in Hands Held High or When They Come For Me? What about the lines 'Like Papa, who shot ya', 'I creep hard on impostors', 'Bang, bang, little monkey man playing With the big guns'? And, my favourite: 'So shake, shake down, money, here's the break down,' also 'I'm just a Banksy, you're a Brainwash'. Is everyone okay about it?
"Breaks" is one of my favourite LP songs ever. Just in my opinion, those verses are Shinoda's best to date. Might be outside your realm of experience, sure, but it doesn't seem so "out of place" and "nonsensical" now that you've put a bit of effort into trying to understand it, right?
I can't agree that Mike's lyrics in UIB are his best ever, but it's just an opinion. I also consider Until it Breaks as one of the best songs off LIVING THINGS.
When OML gonna has something similar to "Cruel World", "Same Old Blues" & "You're Mine" than gimme that! btw I noticed also that the sampled intro in BS is very inspired by Phantogram too. I hope that wasn't sarcasm, because UIB is indeed one of my favorites LP song ever
Nah. My favourite Linkin Park songs are "Waiting For The End", "Until It Breaks" and a third one which I don't remember so clearly but which is probably "Roads Untraveled".
Run Run Blood and Destroyer are my favourites off Three. If there's something like them, I'll definitely gonna love this album. Same thoughts. It reminded me of 'Fall in Love' immediately.
I can't agree that the lyrics are great, but his flow and delivery (along with the sick instrumental) always have me rapping along or getting into it. Great song.
The last verse starting with "This is for the people on the block" is one of his best delivery he has ever done. Living Things will always have the best Shinoda flow.
