Linkin Park has uploaded a new video to their official YouTube channel showing some of the preparations involved in the lead-up to their performance at the Worlds 2024 Finals Opening Ceremony. The major e-sports event took place at London's O2 Arena earlier this month, on November 2. The band closed out the music performance segment with a fiery rendition of "Heavy Is the Crown", a single from new album From Zero which also served as the official Worlds anthem for 2024. The video features Linkin Park rehearsing their grand entrance on an elevator platform taking them up from below the stage, with Mr. Hahn even experimenting with some choreography along the way. It then shows a glimpse of the live event itself from the band's perspective, with a camera capturing the moments just before the elevator rises. Alongside this footage, there are excerpts from Linkin Park's "fireside chat" with Riot Games' Global Head of Music Maria Egan, where they spoke about collaborating with the company and incorporating "Heavy Is the Crown" into both Worlds 2024 and the streaming series Arcane. Thanks to the League of Legends YouTube channel, you can re-watch the Worlds 2024 performance of "Heavy Is the Crown" here, or check out the whole 12-minute music performance segment of the event here. I find it interesting that this isn't an "official" LPTV episode and that they distinguish it in that way by not using the FZ water transitions or even the same font for things like the lower third chyrons that list people's names.
