I can deal with politics, but what I really don't want to hear a hint of is this faith/God crap that Chester is eluding to. He's kept it to himself and out of his music his whole life and I hope he continues to do so. Thankfully Mike would probably be hesitant to let those kind of lyrics make the record.

Does a person's religion offend you that much? It shouldn't. He's not telling you to believe what he believes.

Not at all. I just don't want to hear about it in Linkin Park songs.

I may be exercising a double standard when I say I'm fine with politics and not religion. Oh well, lol.

They should write songs about the illuminati's influence in the world and conspiracy stuff.

How many more sides can they show?? This album has to sound like hs,m2m, or ats.. or all three?!? Wait a second, i'm talking about Linkin Park.. they can develop like 2000 different type of sounds.

Again, like I stated in a previous post, I hate when bands 'tell me' what to think of the song. Yes as someone quoted me said, they are making the songs THEY want, but as you do that, sometimes you alienate people. While I love everything LP has put out, some hate the new stuff and that's ok, it's called direction, evolution, etc. Putting religion and politics in songs to me is taking a step back lyrically. Yes, I'm atheist, but I'm tolerant that anyone can believe whatever they want let it be god, allah, a unicorn or nothing like myself, but when artists include direct lyrics in their songs, it's a chokehold and often skipped in any form of playback. Don't get me wrong, there are some 'christian' bands that I like and some I hate and those that I hate are the ones who will specifically say "God" or "Jesus" in the song. Again, I much prefer the 'broad' lyrics relating to their topics that anyone can identify directly or indirectly with them. Just my opinion, two cents, rant, however you want to take it.

To be honest, I'm ok with politics with LP because I have a sense that they share my political views, haha.

What's key is that Chester acknowledges how political songs can sound preachy. So hopefully they won't sound preachy.

Pfft, any conspiracy buff worth their salt knows they're part of it themselves. They made the hand signs and everything. Every Thursday evening they sit at a big table with Cliff Richard and Kanye West and talk about making potholes.

I guess lyrics about politics can work if done right.

Currently in politics: Former U.S. Representative Anthony Weiner... Should be an interesting song... :awesome:

A more acoustic album/not distorted album would be different than any of that. I know Chester and Mike both love Arcade Fire, and to be honest the way Chester describes the album (so far, still very early in the process), it sounds kind of like Arcade Fire.

Maybe more stripped down, political without being preachy. But who knows.

Music is a reflection of self. Why would you want someone to restrict their feelings and emotions in a song? There's a lot of gangbanging music that alienates me, but thats the life some people live, if thats the music they want to express, its whatever, just give me a good beat.

Same question to Dumbledore, I already posted, too much work to go back edit and quote.

They should write lyrics like Blackout that nobody understands and we'll be all happy :D

If only there could be a Reanimation 2.0 in between, I'd be more than happy.

Yeah, so can I. That song's lyrics are the thing I like most about it. :)
