There wouldnt be covers of these song, if these people would like the sound. The do it, because they think they can make it better by adding screams and guitars, who doesnt fit actually. i guess tasteless is the right word here. But i understand what you mean, though.
I'd agree with you if these bands were putting their own unique touch to the song. But majority of these covers are just direct heavy versions of the song which means they are just going along with the general fan base opinion(for this song, it would be the hate) and trying to capitalise on it.
Well, on how Heavy changed from that piano version with Mike to the final result... i think i should expect nothing. Those acoustic versions are amazing, but the instrumental production can destroy it all.
I don't have any problem with cover bands trying to "capitalise on" Heavy. Let's remember that LP was the first who tried to capitalise on this song by creating it as a mainstream friendly production, which I also have no problem with. I abolutely agree that most of the covers don't fit the song with they arragement (maybe OLN cover is an exception - they did it right).
Really like what I'm hearing with both. That's three songs I'm very happy with already, extremely hyped right now. One More Light sounds deep. "They say Who cares if one more light goes out In a sky of a million stars It flickers, flickers Who cares when someone's time runs out If a moment is all we are We're quicker, quicker Who cares if one more light goes out Well I do" Mike said that One More Light is a very stripped down song, so would imagine the album version isn't far off what was played here.
Why do people keep saying this? why do you make it sound like an insult? Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber and others are all respectable musicians who makes music that a lot of people like. They are not on my most favorite musician list, probably not on yours too. However, even if your favorite band made something that sounds like them and is good, so what? Is it filthy and insulting to make certain types of music? Please respect other musicians that you don't like (or people in general) more.
Talking To Myself sounds neat so far. But One More Light. Oh my god. That was just a not perfect quality snipper yet I was already welling up on the inside. Pretty sure I'm gonna shed tears when I hear the actual track. Ah, Rebel. Your constant bizarre and mindboggling opinions do make my day much brighter.
Based off of the Taylor Swift comments, and other things I've heard thrown around about 'Heavy' and other songs, I think I need to clear the air on something. Mike made a comment to me last month that wasn't part of the interview and thus was never shared (but I feel needs to be said in this thread) and that was 'This album is pretty much the furthest thing from The Hunting Party as you can get'. So anyone still expecting some balls to the wall heaviness or metal on this album (and why they would after 'Heavy' I have no clue ), water down your 'metal' expectations. This album will be a poppier record. There's been enough evidence by the band in interviews over the last month (in addition to the above quote) to support that.
I'm deliberately not listening to OML (the track) till I get to hear the album. Whether that be via a press review stream, or later. OML is supposed to be about the death of someone they loved, and given that I am expecting to relate that song to the passing of my father...I'd rather listen to that song in good quality than spoil it through cell phone videos.
But it sounds so fantastic even through the recording we have now ... even with so little instrumentation, Chesters delivery and the cellphone recording aspect of it... it sounds SO good. Even with just the piano and the simplistic but gorgeous melodic guitar line, it says so much.
Considering that most of my favorite tracks from LP are actually the softer ones. I'm very happy to know that.
