Following the second show of their comeback tour at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY on September 16th, Linkin Park appeared this evening on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon to perform their chart-topping single "The Emptiness Machine"; their first television performance since 2017. Mike sat down with Jimmy for a lighthearted conversation in which he shared a funny anecdote on helping one of his children prepare for a school music festival, as well as explaining how the band reunited and the origin of the name of the album From Zero: To close the show, Linkin Park gave an incredible performance of The Emptiness Machine, which you can watch below: What do you think of the band's appearance on The Tonight Show? Share your thoughts about the interview and the musical performance on our Forums and stay tuned for more news and developments as the release date of From Zero approaches!
So the live broadcast cut the stories about Mike's kids being teenagers for time. Which is fine, until you get to the part where Mike asks, "Have you been to a high school lately?" Without the context about his kid's being teens, that question sounds creepy AF.
Just watching these now -- the intro music they give Shinoda when he walks out EDIT: the band sounds great in that performance too! I noticed Shinoda didn't sing the harmonies in the choruses like he usually does
Hahaha he seems to be awake though.. Funny story from Mike and great peformance again! Good to see these things!
They absolutely crushed the performance. Despite Mike being an amateur at performing. So pumped for the album.
Damn, his daughter must be proud of his debut performance. Seems like he'll go far in his career. But what a cute story about his daughter. It truly showcases how out of it they were probably were since the band never performed for close to 7 years. A lot of their kids who grew up during this time probably don't realize how big LP was (until now)
The whole band should do this as part of performing this song each time, like the signature OSC headbang thing they had going on back in 2000
