I don't agree personally. The ø seems like a huge stretch to me. People (*cough*Reddit*cough*) keep acting like this is some unique symbol or something - it's a letter used in several Germanic languages. It feels like fans of Twenty One Pilots think it's that band's trademarked symbol or something. Mike has historically had an affinity for female vocals in the past few years as well. And also like you mentioned, it makes no sense that they'd bring in someone that couldn't pull off some of their most popular songs in a live setting.
You are right. One definitely can't build everything on the ø alone. But I've mentioned more stuff. Okay, Mike leaning towards female vocals is an argument. So I'm reformulating my theory: There will be 3 new band members announced this night! And the girl will do the screams.
My predictions for today based on rumors (put in spoiler tags): - Most likely to be a full on comeback, not just a special one-off event like the tribute show. - Concert full of some of their biggest hits, plus new material [see next list item] - New song live premiere, along with the official release of the single to DSPs tonight/tomorrow. - New vocalist, female. Very likely to be Emily Armstrong, known best in Dead Sara, due to several hard to ignore clues/coincidences - Forthcoming announcement of a full record, and worldwide tour dates, and if so, I'd bet potentially some later this year. - If my speculations are correct, I'd also assume today to be the media kick off, meaning we'll see a blitz of appearances or maybe even TV performances once this happens. All this is just pure speculation. Unlike in the past with AltWire, or LPA (see: Hunting Party promo era), I have not received a single iota of information about what is coming with the band. I am just as much in the dark as all of you. The above is simply going off of rumors and pure speculation. Take my predictions with a grain of salt, because with my luck they'll all be dead wrong.
I'll add another speculation - which is based on nothing but my gut feeling, so I guess no need to hide it If they are to play multiple live shows in the future, those 2 songs will get their first performances at some point. Keys to the Kingdom All For Nothing why? Mike / Phoenix have expressed their desire to play those in the last few years. Also, not played before means no Chester comparison. And. Just gut feeling. I'll probably be proven wrong lol
With Ai music generation sites like Udio, Suno and Boomy, I don't think I'd trust any audio leaks unless it's been verified by a long established verifiable and trusted source.
As much as I love TOP, as identical as their musical philosophies are with LP's, as much as Tyler has pushed himself as a singer, the two bands are kin like fraternal twins. I would love to see them have shows together, though. That's a dream.
That's exactly what I think will happen too. I'm expecting a Q&A with the fans as well. Do you guys think it is possible the livestream will include some kind of video/doc thing showing them discussing the new steps of the band (the new singer, the new sound of the band, etc.), like those types of meetings they have in making of videos? I'm so curious to see a snippet of that. So excited to see the band together again today!
I would expect a doc/LPTV series (if there will be one) after all this. Like in the lead up to a new record. I'm sure there will be. Mark films them with ANYTHING LP.
7 years without posting will give you such a crick in the neck. It’s been forever. Hope everyone here is doing well. Loads of emotions right now. I’ve struggled with trying to listen to their music since Chester’s passing. Maybe this will provide a lot of us with a little bit of closure due to the band moving forward. I listened to all 7 of their records yesterday leading up to this announcement. No one will ever replace Chester and I will always look back fondly on those moments for the band and I’ll always be happy I was alive to experience and follow them during that time. As for my thoughts on today? Above all else I just hope the band is as comfortable as possible with their decisions, and that they are doing better mentally. I want them to enjoy this again and I hope their passion is still alive and burning bright.
I'm so excited but also just... nervous about the announcement. It took time for me to properly come to terms with Chester's passing and the band going on hiatus. I was finally okay with the band never coming back. There's a part of me that just feels giddy to have this hole filled, even if it's a Linkin Park without Chester. It brings back all the memories of album release cycles, the ARG, concerts... a lot of really good times. If I can get even one more experience like that, I think I'll be happy.
Originally I would have preferred Mike to be the main vocalist on new work and a singer to be brought in for tours. Now that I am like 99% sure who the new singer is I think I can live with her becoming a full member. Is it against the rules to say Adam and Anna Shinoda started following the person I think is the new singer this week? (Honestly that could just be a major coincidence)
Exactly. Derek enacts harsh justice here. You will be banned just as the band's comeback begins. Shoulda thought of that before, sucka!
Missed the forum so effing much. 7 years ago this return was far removed from our thoughts, and here we are. I'm beyond excited with what the band has in store and I'm all in for the ride. My favorite band is potentially announcing a return, and I couldn't be more excited.
I’m really excited for whatever today holds! Lots of emotions right now. No matter what, I’m so glad to see the community so active again.
No matter what happens tonight, the anticipation that I'm feeling right now is something that I wasn't sure I'd EVER be able to feel again! Even if it sounded like "mmm...cookies" I'd still pay full price for a physical copy.
