Now that One More Light has officially released, time to make predictions for Linkin Park "8." Make any prediction you want about the album. How will sound? Will there be features? How much will it sell first week? When will the album release? Ect. Anything you want to predicted is fair game. Sound off in the comments!
It will have at least one song with screaming/aggressiveness, be super interlude-y, will probably have weird structures and stuff that's not verse/chorus/verse/chorus, but will not feel like ATS part two.
Admittedly, these are less actual predictions and more what I'd demand if I had six brain slugs to plant on their heads, but... A Thousand Suns Part II with more rapping, but every acoustic guitar within a five-mile radius of the studio was destroyed during the recording process. The Rising Tied Part II but all the hooks are sung by Chester and instead of Styles of Beyond, Mike managed to "convince" Run the Jewels to be on half the disc. A mash-up album made from Fort Minor and Dead by Sunrise material but marketed as a new Linkin Park album just to see if anybody could tell the difference. Sawano-esque techno-rock, but with slightly less cringe-worthy lyrics. A challenge, to be sure. Whatever they want so long as they include a three-minute version of that ode to ramen.
Everyone is expecting them to completely change their sound once again with the next album, so what if by releasing another album like One More Light, that would shock people? Haha, I kid. In all seriousness, if I had to guess, I'd say maybe a very maturing sounding album, sounding similar to something like Iridescent. I've always thought the band would make this huge, mature, Coldplay esque style album, and I think maybe the next one could be it. I know they have it in them. Maybe even a hint of classical thrown in, too, I know Mike could own that shit if he wanted to. I'll probably be 100% wrong, though.
An album full on strings and orchestra, more organic, live instruments, with prominent basslines.. enough with samples please. experiment more on live instruments. experiment with more guitars ala Eagles. and of course, Harmonising is a must.
My own predictions: -Back to 12 tracks -A mix of ATS and LT in concept -Arriving 2019 -At least one agresive track
Something like ATS, but less experimental, featuring track like Waiting for the End, Iridescent or Burning in the Skies. I doubt they would release a more solid experimental album than ATS or Reanimation any time soon if they continue to self-produce their 8th record. But we'll see haha, hope I'm wrong.
2019 is not possible. if they want to aim a solid record then 2020 is the clear shot. In that case, the band celebrates HT20 and ATS10. If Mike claims that their 8th record would be genre-busting ala ATS then I'm in. but I'm curious about Mike's IG story where he posted "This is how we celebrate" with Native Instrument app on his pc. I'm not sure, if you noticed anyone of you, then you know what I'm saying.
Mike works on music all the time. There are posts of his that indicate working on new stuff just after LT and THP dropped aswell. Doesn't mean any of it will make it on to the album, or that he's working on LP stuff. I don't expect serious, focused work on LP8 to begin until after the OML tour has ended, which is at least a year from now.
I think LP8 will arrive around 2020, until them we will have some parallel works. Chester already said he's working on new music, maybe doing it all alone by himself. Mike is always wanting a FM comeback too. But if LP's intention is to be high on mainstream, they have to release new music annually.
Yup.. Heck, they can release albums annually, it's just a matter of time and determination. Even some artists like The Beatles were able to release year after year of albums, sometimes 2 albums per year. I don't mind as long the band is happy about they're doing. They're on their 40s now, so it's time to pump up more records.
