Have you guys ever considered bring that system to the site? Instead of having to someone quote a post and say THIS. Wouldn't it be easier just to press a like button? Not an expert on how this stuff works but it might work :). Just a suggestion

It could potentially work, but could also be overused. I'm not so sure about implementing it.

Maybe you could test it out for like a week, see how it goes from there.
Even try it for members with a certain rank, or amount of posts.

We had a rep bar on LPF where Elite members were the only ones that could give out negative rep. It's almost saying that you "Like" the post, or I've seen other systems on the LPP where you could give you shoutouts to posts.

If we even consider this, there will be no "rep". Especially negative rep. You could associate this to a "dislike" button too. If we were to do this it would just be the case of liking someones post or giving it the "thumbs up".

I take back my 'this.' This like button will severely hamper my postwhoring marathon.

This is the LPA, not Facebook. We're not going to implement a feature that could turn this site into a social clique and have people on here whining wondering 'WHY AREN'T MY POSTS GETTING LIKED?!'.

It's just never going to happen, I respect your idea and I am very happy you felt comfortable suggesting it to us, but it just has too many flaws.

I apologize, I didn't mean to come off harsh or seem like I was completely shooting down your idea. My bad.

I say we take this opportunity to not only have a "like button", but also a dislike button. Maybe a Thumbs up and thumbs down kinda thing. And let the lurkers hit the thumb buttons. I actually really want this to happen. Then when someone says something stupid, they'll know it. Seriously, please consider adding this.

Will the dislike button show the user's home address, state, city, zip code and telephone number? If so, I support this.

If this site had a dislike button I'd personally have to dislike the majority of the posts that I read. Cause really, I figure, if a user is okay with someone telling them they like them for one particular post or another it's fair game to say something is pretty stupid.

So I don't support this idea for the liking but dislike, hell if it would weed certain people, sure!

    [/troll]

Honestly though, no. LPA is different. It doesn't need any social liking button and has gone great and will continue to thrive without one.
