Eaaargh fuck off Don Gilmore.
Was this song made before Head joined them? Because there's no riffage in this song.
Probably this is a The Path of Totality-era song that didn't make the cut. And mixing. The last album's mixing was all like this. The guitar was put behind the bass and dubstep wub-wubs. TPOT had some great riffs but it was unhearable because of the mixing.
I hope the whole album doesn't sound like that.
This confirms my beliefs that that Don Gilmore can only produce Meteora-esque tracks which only Linkin Park could pull off.
Hey! First of all, Don produced Hybrid Theory, so your argument is invalid. Second, this sounds like something off of Korn's last album (but less dubstep-ish), so I think Don wasn't much of an influence.
FUNNY He was great there! After Meteora (and a couple of film scores) things went towards the downward spiral... Listen to Transit of Venus to see what I mean...
Edit: I would not say this if he was a good producer NOW!
Edit2: who knows? It could be a weak single...
The song isn't terrible, but it's not something I see myself listening to again.
to be honest my expectations were so low that I was pleasantly surprised by the track. I expected with head back they were going to do another "back to our roots" album and I have yet to like any album they make when they say that. at least the are still trying to be somewhat creative... somewhat.
See they were saying the new album would be sort of an Issues/Untouchables hybrid, which excited a lot of fans.
And then they give us a Path of Totality b-side...
That song is unbelievably terrible.
Every link is gone!
Here's the "official" release, so this one should stay up.
Is it just me, or does it sound a lot better? My opinion of the song is much more positive after hearing that. The song is good.
Being able to hear the guitars improves it, but not by much. It still sounds like a leftover from the last album, and after hyping it up as THE RETURN OF HEAD!!! it was a ridiculously poor choice for a lead single.
I haven't listened to anything by the band besides a few songs from "Follow the Leader" and "The Path to Totality". I understand generally what you mean, though.
Coming from someone who loved a few songs off The Path of Totality. This is pretty bad.
It wouldn't be that bad if the lyrics weren't so fucking cheesy.
Exactly. The electronic bridge was kind of cool, and it's slightly catchy. But "I'll never love again". Seriously? From the same band who sang "somethings raped and taken from me" or "you don't know the chances. What if I should die?".
Take a band who were never lyrical geniuses in the first place and add Don "Write It Again" Gilmore and.... well this is what happens.
