Using the plug-in available here, users will be able to tick a box which allows PM's to be sent to them when they are quoted on the forums. So it will be a cool tool if you'd like to be notified when quoted, and if not you just un-tick the box and it's gone.
It's a neat little plugin, but is there really a point to it? If enough people wanted it we'd gladly add it to the boards, but I worry about the potential for spam come album 5 time, if someone's post gets quoted say...10-15 times. It's a neat plugin, but is there a need for it? That's all I'm wondering.
Well if someone quoted someone and asked a question, or was just generally replying and continuing the conversation, it would alert the user to that which would result in a faster reply and I'm sure people have missed their posts being quoted before. And if people did use it, those who didn't like it could just turn it off. I guess we could ask and see who would and wouldn't be interested, and from there see if it should be used.
I wouldn't use it personally. I tend to check threads I reply in and can pretty much keep up with any threads I post in without a notification. It would be considered spam for me, but maybe this could be handy for some users.
Seems that it would be incredibly annoying for some, but really it doesn't infringe on the nerves of other members so there's really not any reason to not add it. Besides it being kind of useless, that is.
I would suggest not making it a default option for members, rather something they would have to turn on themselves. But other than that I don't see the harm in adding it.
