It so does! It's insane how Chester not only can still scream like that record, but actually do it better live than he did back in the day. Bravo Chester!
On that note, I've always wanted one of them to do the "Yoooooouuuuuuuu" backing vocals in With You. I've never understood why that's not replicated live, when it's so prominent in the song.
Who can hit those notes? The band seem to have really enjoyed playing that one, and Chester especially really went in. I think that it'd be nice to see them include it in other sets this year.
true man, that's kinda put me off seeing them live if they do a UK tour, i dont want to be the only one seeming to enjoy it :/ but why on earth do people go if they don't know the songs? do they just go to hear "numb" ?
I loved hearing By Myself! I wouldn't mind it they put it in the set list for a while, maybe replace Numb. Chester sounded great!!
After seeing the videos of Forgotten and By Myself, I'm hard pressed to believe that Chester chooses to have cleaner vocals live. He's definitely holding back on the screams live recently. The man still got it!
Chester always perform heavier tracks much easier. Look at Victimized, Given Up, No More Sorrow, One Step Closer etc etc. It's when he tries balancing such heavy songs with songs with more melodies that his voice fails(at times). It's such a huge strain on his vocal chords to scream and sing.
screams don't necessarily hurt his voice, but according to others singers like M. shadows from A7X, screaming during a concert or a whole tour makes your vocal chords "thick" and you become unable to hit high notes, temporally of course. and going from one technique to the other in a second like in Given Up is not easy, especially considering all the circumstances of a live concert. this is why chester and many other singers avoid too much screaming live, performing the heavy parts in alternative ways. it doesnt mean he cant do it anymore. maybe if by myself was in the setlist he would hold it back a little every night. but since its a one time only performace he did his best. EDIT: 8:00 and on Matt talk about his voice.
Once again annoying fans screaming the lyrics at the top of their lungs ruins what's otherwise a decent recording.
I noticed that some of his screams are, eh... a little screamy. Maybe he is overtrying or his voice is tired,
I keep saying it, but nobody ever seems to listen: ever since the ATS touring cycle Chester hasn't been able to sing as well, whereas from 2007-2009 his singing was at its peak. He fucking nailed Crawling in those days. And his screaming has been much better since 2012. Might just have to start a new thread about this because it's so obvious yet barely anybody seems to notice :shrugs:
