Please watch this video I personally think he nailed it and showed how stupid (in my opinion) the Republicans, in general, are. At least regarding how they look at taxes and poor people. Does anyone care to disagree? If you do disagree I'd like to hear your argument after you watch the video.
As a person living in a household with someone who keeps Fox News on all day long, I am glad every time I hear someone pokes a hole in it. It is the most repetitive station on the friggin planet. They regurgitate the same talking points day after day after day after day to the point where I don't even understand how [family member] can stand to keep watching it. I started to find myself nodding along before I realized that the only reason I was nodding along was because I had heard the same drumbeat so many times that I thought it was familiar and therefore, thanks to stupid human evolution, correct. One of the biggest things that bothered me was the amount of guilt mongering regarding Class Warfare. That's their buzzword, class warfare. It's always about the poor people starting fights with the rich people so they can get more stuff for free. Because people who can barely feed their families while working three shifts to the point where their arthritis makes every hour of every job feel like an eternity should feel guilty for wanting to catch a break. The problem with that way of thinking is that these are the same people clamoring about government getting too large. Absolute power corrupts absolutely, which is absolutely true and the government needs to be checked. But, these people don't seem to realize that simply shrinking the government doesn't remove that power. Shrinking the government only shifts that power to the private sector. If that government is small enough, then the private sector will be granted absolute power and thus corrupted absolutely. There is already shreds of this happening. Class warfare didn't start with poor people trying to redistribute wealth, it started with the wealthy buying lobbyists and politicians to protect their own interests at the expense of all the other taxpayers. This is why politicians never seem to do what voters want them to do; they're more interested in getting enough money to campaign to be reelected, so they become pawns of people who have money. You'd think they should at least pay more taxes for the special privileges they have in this country. I get annoyed with this "big government" and "small government" talk because the real answer to that should be the right amount to balance the private sector against the powers given to the public. That answer will keep changing depending how our country grows over time. Checks and balances should not just be for our different branches of government, it should be for everything that can have a conflict of interest. Fox News also seem to want people live in mud huts. Nevermind that someone who actually lived in a mud hut outside of a third world country isn't going to be able to compete with other first world participants for a job. How is someone going to get a job in this day an age without a phone? And if you're going to get a phone, why not make it a cell phone? And what poor person in this country actually owns their home? They all rent! And most places on earth that you would go rent frequently provide some basic furniture for you. I have yet to see a rental place that doesn't come with a refrigerator. Besides, it isn't fair to call a refrigerator a luxury; it's a device that keeps your own food from killing you, and many people in third world countries even feel getting one is of most importance. Refrigerators are a good investment. If you're food's not spoiled, then you've saved the money you would have spent on buying more. Refrigerators also mean you can increase the range of foods you can buy. A good diet enables a person to work longer and have generally better health. This only shows how out of touch these fat cats really are. Isn't a society measured with how it treats its minorities? its women? it's children? it's poorest? Why should we want people to build mud huts in this country? It would be a sign that we are on the verge of collapse. Not to mention that business in America would suffer if we all went back to living in mud huts. The rich in this country seem to forget that our economy is based on consumerism. Question everything and don't hold sympathies towards people who hold power, because you are not but an ant to them. Don't stop at mistrusting the government, mistrust every rich guy and every corporation he owns too. Know when to question, know when to cooperate, and know when to rebel. You need all three keys.
I completely agree with you on this subject, I do not understand how Newscorp and Fox are still on the air..Yesterday during the news at 10 here in NY (was flipping the channels since there was a tremor that was felt here in NYC) Cavuto was talking about to Jeb Bush regarding the impending Hurricane Irene hitting the coast, and how we have to be proactive and make sure that the government has to be prepared and whatnot.....No mention on how Jeb's brother bungled New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina. foxnews and newscorp are the devil lol no seriously they are delusional
I'll be giving half of what I earn now, since obviously me being poor is looking bad on this country. Gotta love Fox News and their "intelligence". This is why I stick to CNN.
I wasn't under the impression Fox News was actually considered news? It's pretty much been established by anybody with a brain and ability to detect bullshit, that FN has been lying to their viewing audience for close to a decade. A good example of this is that when Obama was inaugurated, they showed absolutely 0 footage of Obama making his way to the capitol. The full breadth of the coverage was dedicated to seeing Bush move out of the White House and covering him flying back to his ranch in Texas. If you woke from a coma and turned on Fox News that day you'd have no clue we had just elected a man named Barack Obama to office. As far as Fox was concerned, Obama didn't even exist that day.
It's sad that one of the only sources of truth in our media comes from a comedian and his fake news show.
Lol, sorry. If TH is reading this, come in and express your conservative views and we'll have a peaceful debate. Or not. Choice is yours. "People are taking their comedians seriously and the politicians as a joke"
The fact that he even had to say anything about this is unbelievable. Here's a quick cheat sheet for the "fiscal conservatives" out there: 1). Trickle-down economics doesn't work. 2). Poor people don't pay income taxes because THEY CAN'T FUCKING AFFORD IT!
Jon Stewart and The Daily Show are awesome. Many of my Friends watch it regularly and so do I. Many of our so-called "Mainstream-Media" Outings like "Der Spiegel", "Die Zeit" and other Newspapers and Political Magazines laugh about Fox News and their stupidly offending campaign against the Democrats. If we had a TV Station here in Germany, it wouldn`t be allowed on the Air due to it`s one-eyed point of view on Politics. On the other Hand, i like to watch Fox only to laugh about them
I watch Stewart and Colbert every night they're on. It's almost like a drug. They give a breath of fresh air from what's otherwise a world fulled with idiots. And, they're hilarious. But now I'm suffering since they're both on a two week vacation, haha.
I would love something like The Daily Show here. We have other good stuff but I'm not sure how much is actually on that level.
Please refrain from making jew jokes in the future, joking or not that was racist to say and the only reason you're not getting an infraction from it is because you currently have two, and we wouldn't want to ban you over a joke. Just please be a lot more careful.
