So what do you guys think of the new feature added to iTunes 9?

Genius mixes is basically supposed to create up to 12 "radiostations" of music that is related to each other to listen to. Just like the original Genius addition made it so you could choose a track and find similar tracks.

When I saw the preview video of it I was kind of excited, but now after trying it out I'm a little disappointed.

One of my mixes is called Post-Hardcore.... and it says it is made up by music including: 3 Days Grace, 30 Seconds to Mars, P.O.D...

How are these even remotely post hardcore??? They are like, hard/alternative rock...

How does Genius get this information? I was under the impression it learned the info from other listeners music, so do a lot of people just really suck at labeling their genres?

Anyone else try this out and have problems?

Lol yeah, my house mix has Daft Punk and Digitalism, but then it also has Amon Tobin and Pendulum .

My Alt Metal mix for some reason has Death and Agalloch.
My Mathcore mix has The Appleseed Cast, Dead Kennedys, Black Flag and Sick Of It All.
My Indie Pop mix has Joy Division.
My Screamo mix has Fort Minor.
My Alt Rock mix has Dan Deacon and Eluvium.
My IDM mix has Mindless Self Indulgence.

So yeah, iTunes sucks with genres lol, but aside from the artists i mentioned in the mixes that don't fit in at all it's pretty cool. My Post-Rock and Psychedelic mixes are quite good.

really it just failed at naming the mixes right. I mean, I can totally see 3 Days Grace, 30 Seconds to Mars, Trapt, Papa Roach, and Hinder in one playlist, but they are in no way post-hardcore...

Which wouldn't bother me so much if there was an actual post-hardcore mix labeled as like accoustic or something, so long as it was there, but it neglected a large portion of my library and instead made a classic rock mix with As Tall As Lions... hehe
