I think that by 'a mix of the old and the new' they mean that they are gonna have the music of ats and the lyrics of HT.
Good, I hope to hear some rock guitar back in some songs! ATS just kind of bored me. I'm in the minority I know that, but wouldn't mind a couple of in your face rock songs!
I wanna be blown away again. I loved Hybrid Theory and Meteora, but when I first heard ATS, I didn't know what to think. All I knew was that it was incredible. I love that record. I know whatever the next record is like, whether it's more old or new, it's gonna be awesome.
I'm honestly excited for the old! I hope it turns out to be a decent album. On the other note, nice hair Mike!
That might be the worst fucking thing I've ever heard on this website. DO. NOT. WANT. Musical stylings of a band finally reaching their creative zenith + angsty, vanilla, run of the mill, 00s rock lyrics =
Really, I couldn't care less what their new album sounded like. I respected them for experimenting, now I'm respecting them for implementing those experiments into their old sound which got them where they are today. And I will always respect them for updating us with epic new music every 18 months. No matter what they said in this interview we still can't judge the album yet.
Okay, really, last post in this thread for the night What they SHOULD be doing, in my opinion, is continuing with the experimentation they did on M2M and ATS, in studio. If they want to apply that experimentation to their old songs, do it live. To me, this just reeks of trying to get the old LP fans back that loooooooved Hybrid Theory and Meteora (and thus more album sales), but like that guy above me said, it's hard to judge the album right now based off a tiny little interview with Mike in a British music mag. Like I said earlier, artists do this bullshit all the time, claiming an album is going to be one thing and it turns out to be something else. The example that pops into my head is Nine Inch Nails and With Teeth, when Reznor said the album was like, "13 songs that punch you in the teeth", and then it turned out to be just NIN doing a bad radio rock cover album. It was a kick, but it wasn't a kick in the teeth, it was to my balls.
A bit over the top...No infact, your fucking pathetic actually, You havn't heared the album, you don't know what would sound good and what wouldn't. Don't go saying peoples ideas are fucking shit, because honestly, I wouldn't mind if they had new style songs, with old lyrics myself. You take this shit too seriously, and so early in the process. How about instead of you making your mind up that 'X' Is actually the way for them to go and no other way is possible, Just fucking wait.
I'm pretty sure I WOULD MIND if they had old lyrics mashed on top of their "new sound". Because it would sound like shit. IN MY OPINION. We both have opinions! No need to call me pathetic, pretty sure this entire post is flame baiting. And I take it too seriously? Look at your post. I'm doing some harmless complaining. If you don't like my posts, there is the Ignore User function.
Your not the only fan you know. The majority of the fans are the 26 million people who bought hybrid theory, there are around 1million fans like you who like the new shit. ATS=girly ,sissy, weird HYBRID THEORY=Kickass
New sound with old lyrics is kind of a no-no to me . Still, I can't judge the album at this time, too early. Just wait for the new single then. Edit: ^ ATS, to me, is way better than HT. ATS>MTM>HT>Re>.....>M
If you use "girly" in the pejorative and are either older than twelve or not Arnold Schwarzenegger, LOL.
No honest, self-loving man would ever try to convince anyone that Hybrid Theory (or Meteora) is NOT an album made for sissies. When your 1st two albums are just 12 songs about how your life and the people in it suck ass, the sissy-ness cannot be brought down by the presence of loud guitars.
